At 54, Idol looks friggin' fit in this concert. Well toned muscles, 6 pack abs and all. Man, considering he had serious drug problems before, it's good to see Billy live in concert, in glorious high definition. Having grown up in the 80s, I have "idolized" Idol ever since. I have collected his casette tapes, CDs, shirt pins, and what not. As expected, I totally loved this BD! He sang only 12 songs, including two GenX songs, but the 70 minute concert was a blast from start to finish. He has aged, no doubt. You can tell from his looks and his voice, but his emotion and energy still run high. His rendition of "Eyes Without A Face" highlighted by a guitar solo of old pal Steve Stevens gave me goose bumps. You've heard Eyes W/O endless times but you gotta listen to this one. It will bring tears to Idol fans, I guarantee you.

PQ is absolutely gorgeous! You can see Idol profusely sweating as there was no airconditioning system in the Congress Theater in Chicago. It's a small club. Parang 70's Bistro sa Anonas lang yata. So talagang total jamming lang with audiences. Astig!! Sound is also terrific. Crank it up and you won't regret it.

The Way Back

-a very good drama about self-preservation and survival. I just find Colin Farrell as one of the escapees bad ass funny. Ed Harris matured enough in his acting and delivered well. I wouldn't give a perfect rating to the overall PQ but the scenes and the backgrounds were breathtaking. The audio was DTS HD-MA but least appreciated on LFEs and surrounds. It was mostly dialogue which was delivered clearly even on whispers and low voices. When it comes to Great Escapes, I recommend this movie.

Have seen this twice over the weekend. Never expected to like this. My kids love it!! It's a cool, action packed alien movie. Great CGI. Video and audio rock! Glad to own this.

Dark City (Director's Cut)

- The last time I watched this was when it was first released. I remember before I needed a 2nd viewing to digest it. With this version, one pass is enough. You just have to widen your perspective to fully understand the plot. Great performance by Kiefer Sutherland as the mad doctor/scientist. I'm glad I watched this again seeing a younger Connelly reminding me of my previous juvenile hots for her. The movie is mostly dark and gothic but the Bluray treatment is magnificent with good shadow detail. I must comment though that BD treatment does not improve the special effects.

The DTS-HDMA 7.1 soundtrack had good utilization of both surrounds and LFE's. Dialogue was clear and audible even on low volumes. During the last battle scene it reminded me of the Matrix...Murdoch is THE ONE.

I just find the anemic aliens creepy specially their floating scenes with their long dark cloaks. Not really my type of movie but the good BD reviews made me watch this again just for the improved audio and video treatment.
