yes, coz the normal DD and DTS we used to hear over SD DVDs are not normally encoded at the maximum 1.5mbps via coaxial or optical...... :)

Chief Munskie, time to upgrade the AVR  ;D..

Hey Munskie, watch it again once you got ur new HDMI AVR - the 6.1 LPCM will "blow" you away! Although, if you have a PS3 (which I assume u got 1), it will decode it as LPCM 7.1 !  ;D ;D ;D

Behind Enemy Lines (Blu-ray)

Wow....this one ranks up there in audio quality.  Theres extensive use of surrounds....especially in the F-18 and minefield sequence.  Deep tight bass in action sequences would surely give your HT a workout.  1.5 mbps DTS soundtrack is definitely no slouch.   Again, great detail in close up shots but so-so in wide long shots.  Great feature on the PS3 is the bitrate display from video......the AVC decoded video ranges from 18 mbps to as high as 35mbps.... ;D

 Happy Feet (HD DVD)
Another awesome demo material! This belongs to the very top of the heap. Excellent PQ transfer and the audio will not disappoint as well! The wife and family have a great time enjoying this as we intentionally skip this one at the movies (decided to wait for the HD version).   ;D  ;D  ;D

King Kong (HD DVD)
Great movie. PQ is top notch. I've seen this movie almost 6 times since I first bought it with the HD DVD add on for Xbox 360.

Charlie and the chocolate factory (HD DVD)
Its visual scenes will blow you away. Munskie is right, it looks slightly artificial since you can see the make-up of the artists.

Ant Bully and World Trade Center (HD DVD). Ive ordered this already thru amazon. Matagal pala ang delivery. whew!

Casino (HD DVD)

Great movie.....and also a great looking catalog title for HD DVD.  Strong deep blacks and blemish free round up the very good PQ.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Tears of the Sun (Blu-ray)

One of the great looking BD titles i've seen so far, this one definitely doesnt dissapoint.  Colors are spot on and the numerous close-up shots of Willis and his men show fine facial detail and texture.  Audio rocks on the two battle scenes, especially the last battle, sporting strong surround activity(bullets whizzing by).

Is there a problem with Happy feet with the 360 addon? Parang I read it somewhere there is a problem. (Not only with addon but also with other players I think) I know there is a problem with children of men. I want to get happy feet but wanna make sure first para avoid exchanges. If not residing in america its a big hassle to exchange overseas. Thanks

Huwat?! Happy Feet has a problem with the add-on.?!?! I'm about to buy this movie. I guess it would be better to postpone it till the new spring update comes. The update will also fix the audio problems. You will now have the option to choose DTS at 1.5Mbps as your audio instead of the standard Dolby Digital. Can't wait for this update.

Happy Feet (HD DVD)

The PQ is astounding!!!  THere were scenes out there that it seems the animation was the real thing....particularly the elephant seals scene......the movie though is just so-so.....very few funny moments.....and a rather serious theme in the end for an animated movie...

Last night I did some previews on the following. Just watched few minutes on each make sure it will play on my addon..Will do a hddvd marathon on a weekend hehe..
1. Pitch black - really good pq
2. Adventures of robin hood..- Wow this one for a 1930's film is amazingly clear to me. From what they are wearing wow..I have a problem tho. The video has black bars on the left and right. I tried setting the tv from 16:9 to 4:3. It still has the black bars. Anybody know how to set this to wide or fill up the screen. I have some downloaded divx files and it does this, all I do is go to the setting of the dvd and set it to 4:3 and it fills up the screen. I dont know how to do it on the addon.
3. Blazing Saddles - Wow also amazingly clear to me for a old film
4. Lucky number slevin - Wasnt that impressed with PQ. Although you can see the wrinkles on forehead and moles on face etc. on Morgan freeman like wow.
5. Van helsing - also good pq

My copy is on the way na...oh gosh can't wait to see this movie which score a perfect 5-star rating to both PQ & AQ. How about the penguins? Some say they also look quite real? :)

Hey Moks007, looks like you will be really busy watching all the nice HD movies this weekend  ;)

Gloomy and sad movie.  But an eye-opener.  A necessary film in this fragile world of ours.
