Transformers ROTF ( 2 disc )

Got this for free from the Philips BD players I recently bought.  I hated the movie but I thought I'd give the BD a try since it's a demo so it must be good.

This high-def / BD stuff is a funny thing.  Bad movies become collector's items.  I was one of those who heavily lambasted ROTF, the movie in another thread.  Yet, just last night, I got blown away by the BD.  It was a total digital "porn" to the max, both visually and sonically.  Forget the plot and the stupid loopholes and all the stuff that made me sleep inside the theatre when I watched it.  This movie was made for BD.  A digital monster!   Truly a BD Demo God!

If you want to show off your plasma and HT to your friends and neighbors, just give TROTF a spin.

PQ : 5.0
AQ : 5.0

movie : ahhhh... hmmmm...what movie?

Speed

Except for LD, I've seen this in practically all of the formats : betamax, VHS, VCD, DVD.  I have a single disc and a double disc DVD.  With my BD purchase, I now have triple dipped on this movie.  I've watched this on cable over and over again.  This maybe one of the most watched 90s movies in my list.  One thing remains all those years : I never got tired of this kick ass  action movie.  Still pumps up my adrenaline and gives me the high.

Although not as detailed as TROTF, Speed still shines on BD. Truly the best in all the formats I've seen it.  More than the PQ, the sound of the movie, in all it's 7.1 dts HD, is one to behold.  Gave me more goose bumps than ever when hearing the all familiar movie soundtrack..

PQ :  4.0
SQ :  5.0
movie : 5.0!

Ninja

Really nice PQ & SQ. As for the film: Quite impressive but don't compare it to those in HK like Jet Li or Donnie Yen's films. Some of the fight scenes are well choreographed. Many Ninja weapons can be seen here. The actor, Scott Adkins did a good job as he is obviously a well trained martial artist. I love his body shape!  :o

The ending final showdown between the two ninjas is nice. Wished they did it longer. Overall, far from perfect but this film does have its own rights. :)

Fast & Furious - I wasn't expecting much from this film but I have to say I was quite entertained.  PQ and AQ are topnotch! :)

As long as the fight scenes are awesome, it's worth picking up for me.  ;D  I'm not really expecting a thick plot from ninja/martial arts movies.  I just like watching well-executed fight scenes.  So thanks for this review!  Definitely getting this.   ;D

MI 2

My nth time to watch this.  Maybe one of the weakest in the trilogy, but hey I still like this John Woo film.  Having watched this now, medyo nga parang korni na yun movie.  But that's the beauty of BD.  The video and audio play more than make up for the whatever the movie is lacking in cohesion, story line, etc etc.  It's a popcorn action film to the max.  Still pumps me up when I hear the soundtrack playing.

My only sentiment is there's no DTS track. And the extras do not include the Ben Stiller parody of Tom Cruise.

Video 4.0 out of 5.0
Audio 3.0 out of 5.0
Extras 3.0 out of 5.0
Movie 2.5 out of 5.0

Bad Blood.

Movie is so-so only. The consolation is it's another lady kick ass film. The fight scenes of Lu Xia Jiang (Chinese Wushu champion) did her part well. An action star to watch out. Hope to see her more in future. :)
