U2 360 Live at the Rose Bowl

I was really excited to watch this BD after it was given to me by my sister as a pasalubong. The stage was one of a kind, its called 360 because of the stage orientation. imagine U2 in the middle of a round stage and their audience surrounding them. Lazer lights, smokes, 360 LED screen on top of the band, THE WORKS! they played 22 of their greatest hits, there are other bonus material in the disc. PQ is not that great though, too grainy in most scenes. i really wondered why? i even compared it with other BD concerts like Dave Matthews and John mayer. Im thinking maybe its because it was shot in an open area? SQ is ok. honestly i was not able to really test the SQ because it was already late and i didnt want to disturb our neighbors.

over all if you're a U2 fan this is a must have, closest you will get to U2  :)

As a U2 fan myself i was disappointed with the way bono sang with or without you in this BD. but who am i to question the great Bono ? ;D

Got to have this!

As for PQ, it was filmed in native 1080i HD but i guess it was really the intention to have a gritty feel, rather than the smooth, crisp, 3 dimensional, let me count your pores look.

I think the artwork of this one looks more appealing than the Sapphire Series...

actually it's just a slip case.  flat yung background colors nya.  comparing the material of this one with the slip cases of other bd's makes this kinda inferior... at first glance i thought it was a steelbook!  ;D
but the pq of the film itself is so nice though... :D

The newly remastered Gladiator is simply quite awesome.  Proves that if enough time and money are spent on remastering, the results are totally stunning!

What were they thinking in releasing that crappy Sapphire Series?  Avail of free disk exchange if you can.

The Day The Earth Stood Still(2008)   So-so movie.  Awesome BD!  PQ / SQ are reference quality.  And it's got the 1951 version as a 3rd disc, in full, glorious 1080p!  Haven't watched that one yet but I'm pretty sure it's better than this otherwise bland movie.

Mr & Mrs Smith   After watching Salt the other day, I immediately picked up this Angelina-Brad actioner.  Still a kick-ass movie for me.  Having owned the theatrical and unrated DVDs, I'd say the BD is a justified purchase for the much improved PQ.  And SQ rocks!  Bullets flew in our viewing area last weekend!

U2 360 live at the rose bowl - magnificent concert

I find the concert in Slane Castle, Ireland better though. Bono will be one of the few who wouldn't get mobbed after expressing his gratitude (while singing pride...) in an almost rude manner to the Irish. :)
Too bad no BD for this concert... >:(

Just watched Date Night last evening. Its quite entertaining, but not the rib-tickling kind of comedy.

U2 360 Live at the Rose Bowl is a must-watch in Bluray. Its almost like being there, watching the concert live on stage.  ;D

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid put a lot of smile on my face at 5:00am at the start of a 4-day summer holiday.

Chloe Moretz is growing up pretty cute!

Having watched Alice Eve in She's Out Of My League and Crossing Over - she's really WOW!  Sorry.  hehehe.  Anyways, Crossing Over is a captivating movie - Alice Eve aside.  :)

Le Diner De Cons:  Not really a new style of humor but it's pretty refreshing to watch something like this once in a while.  Or perhaps because of the French.  Somehow, this movie reminded me of some of the Big Talk threads in this board.   ;)

The Joneses:  I was expecting it to be vanilla but turned out to be a rather unique storyline.

Just finished watching Terminator 2 on Bluray Skynet Edition. OUTSTANDING!

I enjoyed playing with the special features, the skynet warning screen that knows your location via net was a nice touch.

excellent pq even on a 720p plasma, now if they made most movies like this flawless example we might have never needed a full hd 1080p. very detailed sg as well. IMO might be a notch higher than the dark knight for reference, then again it could only be me.   ;D

Karate Kid (1984)

Wax On, Wax Off.  Still beats the Jacket On, Jacket Off.  The Pat-Ralph tandem, IMO, is far better than the Jackie-Jaden duo.  And still presents the underdog story in a better fashion. That final scene where Ralph delivers the killer kick still pumps me up big time.    I've seen this BD twice, and the movie more than a dozen times but I still love this 80's classic.

Watched The Island last night. The Blu-ray image was amazing so much so that you could actually see the airbrushing on Ms Johannsons face quite starkly. The audio was only DD5.1 but it was very impressive I have to say, with great bass and directionality.

Just finished watching The Last Samurai that I purchased in Hong Kong. Glad I dumped my US disc and replaced it with this one. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio blows the old DD5.1 clean out of the water. The music really comes alive and the battle scenes...WOW. I swear the picture looks a lot cleaner on this version as well, razor sharp with a good bit rate. A clear step up from the old US edition.
As for the movie, one of my all time favourite movies Tom Cruise is at the top of his game and Ken Wattanabe is a God and clearly underutilized. A film with a real heart to it.

Movie 10/10
Visuals 9/10
Audio 9/10
