12 Rounds

Surprisingly enjoyable action flick.  Reminds me of Speed and Die Hard 3.  Solid PQ and outstanding SQ.

Outlander

Sans its cheesy dialogues, this is a pretty good entry to its genre.    If you like Aliens & Predators, this is for you.  PQ is erratic.  Sometimes it's bad and sometimes it's good.  But overall, I found it a tad disappointing.  The real winner is the audio.  Right from the opening scene, my HT was active! Solid, solid SQ.

how do you prefer watching your bluray movies, with black bars or you always zoom/fill in the screen ?
pansin ko rin po na 1920 x 800 lang pala talaga mostly ang bluray....kasi yong black bars kasma na sa 1080 :D

You're referring to the aspect ratio.  I believe that most of pinoydvd members, if not all, prefer the original aspect ratio of the movie - whether it's 1.78:1 (fullframe on 16:9 tvs) or 2.35:1(with blackbars on 16:9 tvs). Again, depende sa sine at kung ano ang gusto nung direktor ng sine.  Di parepareho eh.

Problema sa zooming in para mag full screen e parang pinutol o naka crop mo na yun scene.  Sayang.  Here are some vital info on aspect ratio:

50 inch and up talaga the best siguro for HD viewing, naliliitan kasi ako sa 40.

Watchmen Director's Cut

Didn't expect much from this one but boy was I glued for almost 3 hours!

It was nostalgic in a way because it treads familiar 80's waters like the cold war paranoia. Then there's great music 80's staples including 99 Luftballons, Everybody Wants To Rule The World & Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.

My favorite scene though is The Comedian's burial where you'll hear Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound Of Silence in the backdrop - goosebumps galore!

Picture quality is awesome & your system will surely get a workout with it's DTS-HD Master Lossless Audio.

Dapat talaga binili ko na to. :) Poor review kasi yung story line kaya nagdalawang-isip ako. But if I have known that the SQ was good, I would have ordered it in an instant.

Palpak ang mga sparrow.  Pag BD to DVD-9 cross-conversion, usually mali ang framerate cadence.

It's very obvious, napakalayo.  I can see the cadence error within seconds from the start of the movie.

Some people can't see it, ewan ko kung bakit.

Knowing

It's very easy to dismiss this film for 2 reasons. First it stars Nicolas Cage. Second, the plots it seems is straight out of M. Night Shyamalan's playbook.

However, I truly believe that this horror / science fiction / supernatural thriller deserves a viewing or two.

Video & audio quality? Folks, this is a visual & sonic spectacle. Could very well become one of your demo materials when showing off your HT's capabilities.
