Perhaps Tarantino's most underrated film.

Super 8

I enjoyed this one a lot. Reminded me of great coming of age films like The Goonies & Stand By Me. Stunning picture quality & the audio will certainly rock the house.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - the whole 2 hours++  was well worth it! Amazing DTS-HD soundtrack specially the low frequencies.  I just noticed that sometimes the video has black bars and on other times full screen. What gives?

The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) -star studded cast-- Lucy Liu, Russel Crowe and my present fave babe-- Jamie Chung. Tarantino makes the best blood and gore fest!

yeah they intended it to alternate between imax shots and normal shots, hence the alternating full screen/black bars. notice how magnificent the PQ is when it's the imax(full screen) shots as compared to the normal shots.

Tarantino's involvement in this is merely lending his name in a "Presented by..." capacity. He was not directly involved in the creative aspects. This is RZA's movie.

Hall & Oates Live At The Troubadour 2008

Finally got hold of this one and as expected, it brought me back to my glorious 80s.

The 1080i transfer is not exactly pristine especially for wide shots but given the dim and blue lighting of the stage, should be understandable.  Close-ups are much better in details especially of beard, freckles, body hair, hair strands and sweat - and shows how the famour duo has nicely aged with their locks still enviously full - and 80s.  ;D   Some of Hall's falsetto's were rather bitin (due to age perhaps) but in general, his performance was still OK.  Soooooo glad that Oates got to sing another full song (and it was performed pretty good) as segue to the more popular She's Gone.  Acoustic guitars were used instead of electrics, thus the huge hits didnt actually sound like the studio recording, but it worked well in most songs.    TrueHD5.1 soundstream is quite clean, full and proper, although needed a little bit of volume boost compared to other concert BDs.

Nice to include in your collection of concert BDs.

Sucker Punch

Now I know why a lot of critics panned this 5th Zack Snyder film supposedly on women empowerment.

Perhaps due to lowered expectations, I kinda enjoyed it. Found the "dream during the dance" sequences relevant although they are too long.

The film's highly stylized palette looks great & the bombastic DTS HD MA will surely make you sing along to remakes of classic rock staples White Rabbit, Tomorrow Never Knows, & Love Is The Drug.
