First viewing on Blu - Across the Universe: We've owned the DVD of this in the past as well as prior digital copies before that. We really like this movie and the decision to double up with the blu was made easy by price and AQ/PQ ratings of 5/5 by Blu-ray.com. Heartfelt renditions by TV Carpio (I Want to Hold Your Hand) and Evan Rachael Wood (If I Fell) will make this one of the more often viewed Blu's.

And the late night movie last night by request was: The Sound of Music - I guess after the Sister Acts, this was a logical Nun segue. I wonder what the 50th Anniversary version will look like.

Hoops weekend

It was short for under 50 minutes. But seeing His Airness again in High Definition sure is a treat anytime. My 12 year old son who wasn't born yet during Jordan's time changed his FB profile pic from Kobe to MJ

PQ and Sound were very good.

Not as bad as I thought it will be. Got pretty glued most of the time. Durant's acting was OK. It's formulaic at best but had enough hoops excitement. PQ was great!!! Sound was ok.

For the nth time, I just finished watching "Jurassic Park" (from the Ultimate Trilogy set) after I saw its opening in IMAX 3D at SM Mall of Asia yesterday so I can make comparisons.

Man...I was SO blown away by it! If you're a fan, it's highly recommended that you see it!

Now I'm convinced that a Blu-ray 3D of JP is a must for my library!

With the upcoming "MAN OF STEEL" (MOS) movie just less than 2 weeks away (June 12), I am (once again) re-watching the classic Christopher Reeve Superman movies as part of a super-marathon leading to MOS...beginning with the movie that started the ball rolling for the superhero genre: "SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE" (1978)

Immortal Beloved

Never got the DVD of this as we already had the LD, this blu is magnificent! Despite multiple viewings, still a great movie with great music. Just leaving the menu on gave us a treat with a beautiful rendition of Sonata Pathetique - a recurring melody in the movie, particularly when Isabella Rosselini's character comes into play.

The Shawshank Redemption

Our late night movie, nth viewing and triple dipped (LD, DVD, BD). We even saw this at the then new Shangri-la Mall after reading a review of it by Jessica Zafra. Similarities and comparison to Monte Cristo can't be avoided and even referred to.

The BD is definitely worth the triple dip (thanks anya618). The viewing experience is even more engaging with the BD's picture and sound clarity. This will be viewed again in a few weeks as requested.
