THIS I haven't viewed last night or last week but years ago. I'm thinking of HIGHLANDER which came out a year after my debut (or 27 years past). The sword fights is immaterial, its the "immortal" theme that gave this film its profound dramatic core. Being that when Christopher Lambert's McLeod has to go on living, but his wife finally grows old - their parting truly tugs the heart. He remained a 40 year old-looking man, but his wife whom he dearly loves (played by a milky-white buxomy Celtic-looking woman whose name is now forgotten) has aged naturally and when she's about to die, that made the parting even more lamentable. For she knew he has to go on living for centuries, while he would have to see many other wives of his own claimed by time. This story could've inspired the writing of the film's haunting theme song "Who Wants To Live Forever?" as sung by Queen. Very few films from the 80's are worth archiving in a Blu-ray library and even Highlander is a largely inferior job in its Blu-ray remastering, but that dying scene has seared the memory for years....
