Across The Universe - Im not much into musicals really but I got to watch Grease with my sister in the moviehouse way back in 1978 and recently Hairspray with my daughter in hi-def glory.  But this particular musical/movie made me realize (for the first time) just how genius the Beatles were in terms of song writing.  I finally understood the lyrics.   :) :) :)  Great sound, great picture quality!

The Brave One - And this one made me realize just how "touching" the voice of Jodie Foster is.   What an awesome actress.   The mug scene in the park is quite creepy.  The movie is mostly in dark or gray so not much eye-popping scenes in hi-def (or my eyes are simply getting used to it) but nonetheless, as I recently saw the DVD version too, it's hi-def enough - more pronounced freckles on Jodie's boss, higher facial definition on the black guy and the bad guys in particular - I guess  Jodie has the type of skin color that any camera would have some difficulty focusing due to lack of contrast?  :) :) :).  Good ending.

My family member works in one of the biggest distributor in Ebay. it suppose to be released in the market by 2/26 but he had it early, so he lend me his dvd compli copy...

Hmm... Back to the Future Trilogy...  ;)

This is the first time I watched the deleted scenes... (in bonus menu) and I was wondering why they deleted the funny scenes in part 1...

Back to the future trilogy has been released in HD DVD or Blu-ray already?   ??? ???

No Reservations:  By Japanese standards, Catherine Zeta Jones has become plump but personally, I think she's aging well (but please dont gain any more weight in the middle) with more pronounced chests.  Now I know why her films in the yester years were always rather soft focus on her face.  For this film , I feel the close-ups are again intentionally soft focus but high definition exposes her pores.  Nonetheless, she's gorgeous.

I got hungry with this film.  Roasted quail with saffron sauce please.  Average PQ

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid -  Among all the high-def titles I've watched, this is without a doubt my reference non-high def looking high-def transfer.   ;D ;D ;D.  Mas malinaw pa yung ibang DVD ko and the sound quality s*cks.   ;D ;D ;D  And although I like the song Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, it just felt awkward on the whole setting of this western film.  But this is a very good film in any case and Robert Redford really looked like Brad Pitt when he was younger.

We Own The Night
Good storyline, nothing original really although I wish there was a little bit more of twist at the end, or a little bit more fist fights during the scenes with the Russian mob (mala bath scene in the Eastern Promises).  Great acting overall.  Phoenix didnt get much of his late brother's beautiful face but this guy is convincing.  The reaction on his face while the Russian mob boss was telling him that they were responsbile for shooting down his cop brother and that they're gonna get his cop dad next was simply great acting.  Wahlberg is a much more tame cop compared to his character in The Departed but he did what was given to him well.   Very nice PQ.  Very powerful "cluby" sound in the Club scenes.  And probably the hottest face in Hollywood as an icing.  Definitely worth my 2 hours of late night watching.

It's interesting to note that during weekends, this thread really moves faster - naturally, weekends provides the best opportunity for us to catch up on our HD viewing.

Finished Spidey 1 of the trilogy last week - now just finished viewing Spidey 2.1 (extended version with a number of scenes not shown in the theatres).  Galing - PQ definitely heightened and superb audio as well.

Highly recommended!  ;)

I still think Terminator 2 is the best among the three. The emotional attachment btw T-101 & John Cornor is really nice. Great performance from all actors/actress.  :D

As for my 12-year old nephew, he loves T3 bcos of the intense "mass destruction" actions. ;D

Breaker Morant:  Absolutely never heard about this film until last week.  Mostly DVD-looking high def transfer except for a few close-up shots of the main characters with VHS sound quality that would challenge any decent quality HT.  However, I got hooked by the film.  This must be a predecessor of movies such as A Few Good Men and Rules of Engagement.

Me, Myself and Irene:  I thought I needed a better PQ so decided to watch a film with lots of sunshine and green.  Unfortunately, PQ was rather soft all throughout which is "sayang" because so many parts were shot in beautiful outdoor sceneries.  Audio was quite pleasing though and I had a good laugh.

American Gangster:  I was expecting a lot from this film and I feel it didnt disappoint on the screenplay. Didnt even notice that more than 2.5 hours passed.   BUT, I didn't quite dig the "gray and gloomy look" all throughout..the first high def transfer with consistent 10:1 contrast ratio whether it be cloudy, sunny, in Harlem, in North Carolina, in Vietnam, indoors, outdoors; talking about energy saving film for plasma owners or Ridley Scott's artistry :) :) :)   Sharpness level is very much high-def though.

Elizabeth:  At the end of a 3-day weekend, I needed a full color, vibrant, high-contrast, sharp and good high def movie.  Thank you Elizabeth.

Side Dish:  Marathoned episodes 6-12 of House Season 4 in high-def.  I was really a couch potato last weekend.

Just watched Bikini Destination Unrated yesterday.  Contrary to what I was expecting (i.e. toned beach bodies in superb swimwear), it's like a playboy photoshoot pala - soft core.  Suffice it to say, twas very revealing...  and the locations were fabulous!  ;)

And some people were waiting for porn to hit high def...  8)

Fantastic Four - great improvement in sound as compared to the DVD release. I like the sound when Vic (Doom) fired a heat seeking missile to Johnny (Human Torch)  ;)
