Furry, sorry for the late reply,
i mean, as the sound pass from one speaker to the other... yung tipong ganon.

Furry,
:D maganda naman ang speakers mo e.
oks yan. sulit.  ;)

Skabyol,
aba, mas malaki nga naman ang kikitain nila, dahil ilang sets of speakers ang bibilhin mo, malamang, prinopromote nila yung 7.1 he he he  ;D ;D ;D

skabyol: andito ka rin ba sa hk? nakabili ka na ba? gusto mo sabay tayo? dami bang tanong? :)

just moved in to a new flat, and i'm finally getting a setup of my own. naibigay ko na yung yammie VS10 sa aking mahal na papa, ako naman ngayon. gumastos na rin lang sa apartment, sulitin na...

the denon 1602 is <15K pesos here (any other suggestions for an AV?), and i'm pretty much set on that, since it's just right for the budget. sa speakers, mejo clueless pa.

there's a package with a 1602 and celestion speakers (front, center, surrounds) for around 28K pesos, but i haven't heard much about celestion. ok ba to?

and what's a good sub? is it a must to go for a powered one?

sorry if some of the questions are redundant. will rebrowse the threads to get some ideas, but any help will be appreciated.

is this system good enough?

acoustic research
status (or stature?) s20
status sc2
status s10
status subz5a

this is gonna be paired with a yamaha rxv-596 (dts, dolby digital)

am concerned if the receiver can process dolby pro logic... i've seen another kenwood receiver that can process pro logic 2... within the same price range...

or should i get b&w speakers? where can see 'em?

Guys, need your help to recommend a good AV Receiver and speakers for me... I'm moving to a new flat sometime within this year and I'm currently shopping for HT stuff for my living room. I already got a JVC S62SL Progressive Scan DVD Player and a Sony Wega KV-XA29N90 TV, so the only stuff I'm missing are an AVR and a nice set of speakers.

My new living room is about 3.5 X 5.5 m (around 20 sqm) only.

I have a measly 50K budget for my audio setup... so any nice recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Also, to the mods - please feel free to merge this new thread to an existing one if you deem appropriate.

Thanks guys!

The 596 is already an old model. If your planning to get Yamaha now, you can try the 530 model, it has Pro Logic 2. Both receivers has Pro Logic.

lance_ryan,

You can start with Yamaha, Denon, Harman Kardon, or Onkyo for the AVR. For the speaker you can try B&W, Mission, Mirage, PSB, Paradigm, Energy etc. They have models that will suit your budget. You can check the topic "General" for store listing and request for a demo. Just my 1 cent.

it says there that the 530 has phantom power for the center speakers... wut does that mean?

hindi ba parang hindi ma maximize ng mga receivers ang speakers?  yung 530, 65w/95w lang... yung ar speakers hanggang 150w ang pwede...

and dapat rin bang may pro logic 2 yung dvd player ko?

hehehe, medyo ngayon ko lang naiintindihan ang mga concepts na i2, hirap talagang mag research about av receiver/speakers when you are a newbie!

Thanks Levi... I was scouting for these equipment in Glorietta yesterday coz it's very near the place where I work. I saw the Harman Kardon AVR2000 in Automatic Centre (G4) and some Pioneer AVRs as well. What can you say about them?

What do you think should be the minimum acceptable wattage for each speaker in order to have a great viewing experience?

Will wait for your replies.... thanks!

guys, the onkyo tx-sr500 and tx-sr600 i s now available.
needless to say, the onkyo has a track record as being very good (if not excellent!) for both home theater & music. will have a 600 (6.1 channel) on demo by tomorrow. check it out!

I think the  phantom center is for the rear center and not the front center. Dolby Pro Logic 2 is a processing done in the receiver and not the DVD player. It converts  any audio into 5.1 with the rear as full range unlike the Pro Logic. Dont worry about the wattage, I think its enough to drive your speaker. Just my 1 cent.

dexterc...

hi! for a newbie, i think your system is quite ok...but since you want something really better for your ears...i suggest the following:

1) get the yamaha rxv-530 av receiver...as far as i know, this one is 6.1 already (correct me guys if i'm wrong!)...great avr for its price

2) for front, rear, center speakers...i'm a wharfedale fan! try to audition the wharfedale diamond 8.3 for your front...either the diamond 8.2 or 8.1 for your surround spekears...and of course, the diamond center...kevlar lahat to...bang for your buck! i've been a wharfedale fan since i started...great speakers! try "sound dimension" at park square or ambassador at shangri-la or glorietta (near park square 2)...they have good price!

3) for the sub, the usaudio 10" sub is ok...try asking mr. sonny tuazon of the home theater in tordessilas st. (in front of my office)...pero if you want something na great quality but very competitive price (plus the fact that you're not conscious about brands)...contact nirvblkr...they make good subs...we auditioned nirvblkr's sub similar to the yamaha yst qd bass series...walang pinagkaiba...galing nila gumawa...pinong-pino...tsaka pinag-aaralan talaga...and they use kevlar also...i just ordered a sub similar to the heybrook sub series...excited na nga ko eh...try consulting them...they give discounts if you get a whole set...grabe, meron ngang na-audition na similar to acoustimas eh mas maganda pa sa acoustimas ang tunog...

4) ok na yang dvd player mo...i also have a pioneer dv-233...

5) for your TV...if you really like flat tv, then stick to the one you have...ako kasi, i'd like bigger TVs...i'm planning to buy either the 29" LG conventional TV (P 19k lang yata!) or the philips 34" TV...pero kung kakasya budget ko, i'd like the 29" flat screen toshiba...i think P 34k sa d-cinema in style (festival mall)

that's about it...happy upgrading!

nga pala, i suggest wag ka muna magpupunta sa mga HT shops, mag-internet, magbasa ng HT magazines, etc...source yan ng "demonic urge" natin...eh magiging economically below the poverty line tayo niyan!!! hehehehe! :) ;) :D ;D :o 8) ::) :-*

you can go for the b&w 300 series speakers or the mission 70 series.  if you will pair it with a decent 5.1 receiver i think that you can get it for a little more than 50k. contact hyperaudio for this

150k?  kung kasama na sa 150k ang tv, la nang budget for sounds nyan!  the progressive scan tv of toshiba costs at around 145k for the 50" and 125k for the 42"... sa listening room (tama ba?) ng megamall ko yan nakuha.  not so friendly people but mas mura kaysa sa park square...

hdtv?  i don't think that it is that applicable here as i don't see that we will have hd broadcast in the next ten years here in our country.

pero kung 150k for the sounds, hehehe! sarap naman nyan!  :)

@ superman thanks a lot....my only problem if ever i will upgrade my Receiver...dont know if there are buyers out there for my rxv 420....anyway so far so good naman ang performance nya....medyo mahina nga lang ang bass ng nsp 220 kaya interested ako mag upgrade kahit speakers  lang muna upgrade ko....
