I think Peter's Mom's power has something to do with making a person kill himself (Mind control maybe).  I think she has a hand in her husband's (peter and nathan's father) demise so as not to be a burden with Nathan's candidacy.

After all 'mind control' as a power has yet to be manifested in a character.

If she had mind control powers then she could've just used it to compel Claire to follow her wishes.

Just saw Episode 20. Best main storyline episode in my opinion as it paints a picture of things that have unfolded. After this episode...

Sylar could possibly enter the rarefied group of most memorable movie and tv villains.

Great, great episode (Five Years Gone).

I had figured saving Claire was so Sylar didn't become unstoppable. But I didn't figure that Sylar was going to be the president. That was a cool twist. And there was a Matrix-like feel to that lobby scene.  ;D  But they shouldn't have cut away from the Peter/Sylar fight. Bitin na naman away nila--before it even began in fact.

Huh? That happened in the future. And I don't think you'll have to worry about that particular alternate reality again.

Check this out (c/o USA Today):

Entertainment Weekly's latest issue puts the spotlight on HEROES with five different covers featuring the lead characters.  Each cover allegedly has clues to the climactic final episodes of Season One.  Here's the link.  Watch out for spoilers!

Yup. I noticed that too. But here's the much bigger dilemma:

How come Matt was not able to read Sylar's mind? He was there acting as President disguised as Nathan ordering him around all the time.

three more episodes left, and i'm wondering if they're going to snuff Sylar at the end of the finale, they need to come up with a more interesting story arc for the next season.

but if they're not, what's with the final three episodes? since there's the imminent explosion---whether from Sylar or from Peter... they're still going to kill a villain in the process (through Hiro or through the explosion). this is going to be interesting, even with the chronological roundabouts that transpired.

The show has a lot of explaining to do. ;D

1. Hiro said he wasn't able to kill Sylar (thus the explosion still happened) because he regenerated (thus he already has the regeneration power of Claire), but...

2. Here is Sylar as President with the "LIVING" Claire.

I think it is still consistent. We actually have 3 alternate realities here.

The first is when Sylar kills Claire and Sylar explodes and regenerates. So future Hiro goes back in time to tell Peter to save the cheerleader and save the world.

The second scenario happened last episode. After future Hiro went back in time to warn Peter, Peter did save Claire. Sylar doesn't have regeneration capabilities in this one (yet). It was Peter who exploded and regenerated but "Sylar-Nathan" covered it up and told the world it was Sylar who exploded. Probably, the "fake" Nathan told Peter he killed Sylar already, but it was Sylar "faking" his death to hide from Peter and the rest of the world. Even the "future" Hiro thought it was Sylar who exploded all along.

The 3rd reality is what future Hiro was really hoping for. Peter saves Claire, and "present" Hiro kills Sylar. But of course, it was only last episode that "present" Hiro knew he was supposed to kill Sylar. The next three episodes will tell us whether this will happen.

What still bothers me though is how Sylar escaped from Matt's mind reading all allong. And if future Peter was really that powerful (he could stop time too), it would be more logical that he be the one to go back in time to kill Sylar. Why entrust it to a "Hiro" whose only power was to stop time?
