Hahaha!  I've noticed that while the episodes might not be ideal, those trashing the show still admit they will finish it til the very end "by force" which is kinda ironic.   ;)

I mean if it's terrible I certainly wouldn't watch it.  Or is it a case of the show starting from a cult hit to a guilty pleasure now?

Different strokes for different folks. You quit, I labor on. It's no different from me slogging on through Tolstoy or Melville despite being intimidated by the length and the occasional boring parts. :) (obligatory smiley face to show that I'm just stating my opinion and not trying to pick a fight).

I also can't understand why in these parts, being critical of a show -- or maintaining a certain standard -- is considered such a big crime.

I'd love for it to be Masi Oka. He's the biggest plot and continuity obstacle for the show. They really should've just made him a time-stopper and not a time traveler.

because pinoys are generally pikon; yeah, it hurts to say this, but it's the truth. you see it everywhere--in politics, religion, show business, even in cyberspace.

Heroes Reboots In Season 4
« Reply #665 on: Jan 23, 2009 at 02:56 PM »
Sci-fi TV show Heroes is returning to its roots in a bid to turn round falling audience figures in the US.

Creator Tim Kring said series four will start "pretty much from scratch", after fans criticised a lack of direction in the second and third series.

US television network NBC says it is committed to Heroes, which starts its fourth season in the US on February.

But primetime president Angela Bromstad admitted it may have taken on too much "in terms of characters and stories".

But series two of the show split fans, with many complaining about a lack of pace and poor storylines. In the US, viewing figures dipped from a peak of nearly 14 million to just over 11 million.

Series three slumped even further, with audiences of 8.5 million - leading media magazine Entertainment Weekly to run a story headlined: "Heroes: Five Ways To Fix It".

In the UK, Heroes is shown on BBC Two, where it has also seen a dip in viewing figures. The opening show of series three drew 4.3 million people, while the final episode which was watched by just 2.24 million.

Kring told US magazine TV Guide about the fourth series: "There is almost nothing that the audience needs to know from the previous volume in order to follow the storyline."

In layman's terms, i guess this translates to Tim Kring telling the stalwart few who still like Heroes  - - "Hey you, those who still like Heroes, wake up, you're wrong, it's not Ok still, it's really bad because even I think so and I created it. So I'm starting from scratch."   ;D

This is, of course, the second time Kring has publicly criticized his own show.

Ok na as in gumanda? O as in may episodes na pero pangit pa rin?  ??? ;D

The reported new direction under Bryan Fuller's  (a.k.a. in the internet community as the "good episodes") starts with Episode 19 apparently.

There's a scene in Episode 14 where a character who can fly desperately tries to avoid falling off a plane. Smart. Sino ba nagsabing bobo 'tong series na 'to? (insert sarcastic emoticon here)

Just saw the episode pre. If I got it right (magulo talaga writing), I think Peter can now only absorb one power at a time.

Best moment of the show for me was not THE show but the obtuse reference to Fallout 3 at the beginning. :)

Wow, at least I'm excited now to watch the next episode

Makes sense why he doesn't want to fall off the plane. At first I thought he had the same power as his father because of the injection. Since he flew with Nathan to escape. Have to watch the previous episode if Peter touched him...  ::)

Which could well be a cop-out on the writers' parts, to iron out all the inconsistencies.

Add to that the fact that the plane was still depressurizing all the way until they hit the ground it seemed. :D

On the direction their going: Fugitives with powers gives it a D.P.7 feel for me.

At this point I highly doubt if any new writers that go on board will be able to write this series out of the s h ithole it's in right now. I hope to be proven wrong though. But just comparing this to how cool Fringe is getting you realize just how much Heroes fumbled the ball.

Yeah.

Fringe has Abrams going for it. Plus, real writers. And more likely than not, a grand plan.

Heroes always felt like it was making it up as it went along and now has . . .well, at this point, I'm not sure what it has. Except maybe the goodwill of a (very) few fans who still have faith in it even if it's insulted their intelligence again and again and again. The getting of new writers is always a solid strategy - - but at this point, if it isn't  the caliber of an Alan Moore or Grant Morrison or J.Michael Strazcynski or,indeed, a Joss Whedon or JJ Abrams or hell even Mark Millar, it's almost moot.

Maybe we should all just wait for Joe Ahearne's superhero series.

FRinge is really more exciting, intriguing and the characters are fleshed out.

I mean in Heroes, if one of your subordinates points a gun at your daughter, wouldn't you fire his a*s right away? Nathan let the guy off with a warning.
But that scene where Parkman loses it had potential.
And they should find another way to foretell the future. That trance-drawing stuff is getting old.

You basically answered why there are some people who still watch it. I've said it before, I'm an SF junkie. Kahit B movie pinapatulan ko basta SF. And it's good to bit ch about bad shows. It's cathartic.  :)
