The most recent Heroes episode that aired last Feb. 23, episode 17 of Season 3 ("Cold Wars"), garnered the lowest ratings ever for NBC, despite repeats of shows from the other networks.

Tsk for Tim Kring.

Maybe it's a different story in the Philippines, which seems to be the last bastion of Heroes fandom.

Understandable. That episode was the worst. They tried to be artsy with narrative manipulation but it fell flat.

And maybe the American fans of the show have been progressively dwindling, too.

I'm curious ,though, to how exactly are the ratings determined ,how do they work? Does anybody here know? Anybody who works in TV? Are dips like this reflective of the specific episode or the show so far?

Chuck also took a dive, I read. That I get, too. I never really got the few episodes of Chuck that I saw. And kinda regret losing the several hours spent doing so. Life's short enough as it is. ;D

you betcha it's been dwindling for some time now. a 6.9 ratings share is excessively low when you compare it to the pilot episode, which garnered 14.10, equivalent to 14 million viewers. season 1 of Heroes maintained an average of 13-14 million viewers throughout, while season 2 decreased to 10-11 million viewers. season 3 currently averages around 7-8 million viewers, so Heroes has lost almost half of its loyal viewer base since season 1.

as far as how exactly the ratings system works, i'm not sure--Nielsen Media Research handles the ratings measurements in the USA (and i think, even here). they use devices called set meters or people meters that are installed in selected homes to record the viewing habits of those homes. recently, they've added data from the usage of digital video recording devices like TiVo as well, so now even delayed and recorded viewing of a TV show will count as a rating point for it.

The Bryan Fuller episode is as advertised but . . . is it too late, I wonder? I've forgotten why I liked Heroes when it came out. Oh wait, I remember. It was a halfway decent Rising Starsrip off. But now I'm wondering if it's worth it to give a precious hour to this every week.

I somewhat raised my hopes after watching last week's episode. This week's episode had great parts in there but there was one glaring flaw.

How could Danko, who has been portrayed as so unbending in his resolve to rid the world of people with special powers, be swayed immediately by Sylar's proposal? Stupid in my book.

Question Peeps,

I have the complete Season 3 but stopped watching at Episode 7 (or 8) because the season s*cked.
Would I understand the season opener without watching the previous episodes?    Uso naman time skipping sa Heroes so I might as well try too.   :)

Thanks.

BTW, House rules. - The most popular TV show worldwide - didnt expect that.

Watching the last 3 episode of season 3 might help. Season 4 kasi starts where season 3 ended.

Might be surprised where Sylar and who Nathan Petrelli is at the moment.

The two-episode 4th season premiere of Heroes garnered the lowest ratings ever in the series history, averaging 6.27 million viewers for episode 1 (Orientation), and sank even lower to 5.77 million during episode 2 (Jump, Push, Fall). The low ratings for the second hour even managed to sink the next program after it, The Jay Leno Show, which had been enjoying good ratings...until the Heroes premiere, LOL   :D

That's good to know.  Dont want to spend 12-15 hours just to complete Episodes 8 - Finale of Season 3. Curious lang ako what's "new" in Season 4.   :)

You might want to read the episode summaries on tv.com so you have an idea what happened in season 3. If you just start with season 4 ep 1 you might be surprised by a few things but you'll eventually catch on because they explain it a lot.

I thought they were going to get rid of the time-travel plot device crap, looks like they never learned. I predict this to be the last season of Heroes.

Tolerable naman pala ang season 3 by watching an episode a day either during lunch break or in the train ride home.    ;D  Ganun pala yon, dapat ipunin buong season bago panoorin para hindi masyadong nakakaburyok    ;D ;D ;D
