CASTLE LOUDSPEAKER
« on: Nov 13, 2006 at 03:24 PM »
Since 1973 Castle has been a loudspeaker manufacturers in the truest possible sense with both design and manufacture of their world famous speakers housed entirely in one factory in Skipton England. Castle is rare amongst loudspeaker manufacturers in that they not only manufacture the drive units and electronic components found in their speakers but also the beautifully hand crafted real wood veneered cabinets used to enclose them.

Because of this complete manufacturing base Castle is able to offer a full five-year guarantee on all their speakers.

Designed and made in Yorkshire, ENGLAND.  Now in the Philippines at Audio Amplified.

Sir - what you heard is the speaker below.  We have 6 models available but that is the only one we were able to sneak in (yes the stocks arrived firday evening so i had to sneak it into the show sat morning).  SRP for this midget with a giant's voice is Php 32,000

All Castle speakers uses the howard 3 crossover so they will have the signature sound of durham, sterling, trent and howard.  Sound character - silky smooth mids with bass that makes you think they are floorstanders.  I cant remember how many times we were asked during the audio fair if we were really playing the castle and not the vandys  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks sir.  Nice seeing our friends and customers at the show too.  Our goal is to bring in products that are good value for money and Castle is another good specimen.  We are still breaking in the castle speakers but so far we like what we hear.

COMPACT L.C.R

This design has been created to fulfil two distinct but complimentary roles within the Compact System alternatives. In the majority of applications its use will be primarily as a traditional centre channel speaker however it has also been designed to fulfil the role of all the front speakers when used in a Left, Centre, Right (L.C.R.) combination. When used in this way it will offer increased power handling and hence increased maximum sound pressure levels in room.  Php 18,000

Frequency Response:   80Hz – 40 kHz
Nominal Impedance:   8 ohms
Amplifier Requirements:   15-100 watts
Cabinet Type:   Sealed enclosure with bituminous internal damping for low colouration
System Type:   Two-way, sealed enclosure
Bass Unit:   2 x 110mm (4.5in.) Klippel optimised with glass fibre cone
Treble Unit:   20mm (3/4in.) soft dome with neodymium magnet
Room Positioning:   Above or below TV, on or near wall

Height: 140mm (5.5in.)
Width: 320mm (13in.)
Depth: 160mm (6.5in.)
Weight Each:   4.8kg (10.5lbs)

COMPACT SATELLITE

Quality loudspeakers do not come any smaller than this. Following significant research into the optimum design requirements for a satellite speaker it quickly became apparent that any design smaller than the chosen size would lead to the significant sonic impairment of the system. Once this basic design parameter had been established, the Castle design team then concentrated on the design and construction of a cabinet as inert as possible and to the development of excellent drive units for installation in the cabinet.  Php 22,500

Frequency Response:   80Hz – 40 kHz
Nominal Impedance:   8 ohms
Amplifier Requirements:   15-70 watts
Cabinet Type:                  Sealed enclosure with bituminous internal damping for low colouration
System Type:                Two-way, sealed enclosure

COMPACT CUBE

The Compact Cube is a 150-watt active sub woofer that has been designed to compliment the other elements of the Compact System. As the name suggests, this is a compact design, being a cube of around 350mm (14 inches) in size. Yet despite these compact dimensions the Cube packs a punch, the sort of punch you need to convey the realism of the sound tracks found in today’s movies.  Php 45,000

Frequency Response:   33Hz – 200Hz adjustable
Amplifier Requirements:   Built in 150 watt amplifier with real time power sense limiter
Cabinet Type:   High rigidity cabinet with internal bracing for low colouration
System Type:   Reflex design with double trumpet port
Bass Unit:   250mm (10in.) unit with air dried paper cone
Room Positioning:   Flexible, to suit room layout

Height: 350mm (14in.)
Width: 350mm (14in.)
Depth: 360mm (14.5in.)
Weight Each:   17.5kg (38.5lbs)

COMPACT DI-POLE

The Compact Di–Pole greatly enhances the overall flexibility of the Compact package of speakers, allowing a wide range of installation solutions whether in 5.1 or 7.1 configurations. In many homes the “classic” 4 satellites plus Centre and sub simply does not work due to the shape of the room and or the position of the screen. In these cases the Compact Di–Pole can overcome the vast majority of these problems ensuring that you get the full benefit from the surround sound system you have.

Php 51,000

Frequency Response   80Hz-40kHz
Nominal Impedance   8 ohms
Amplifier Requirements   15-100 watts
System Type   Sealed enclosure with bitumous internal damping for low colouration
Bass Unit   2 x 110mm (4 1/2 in.) Klippel optimised with glass fibre cone
Treble Unit   2 x 20mm (3/4 inches) low modulus polyamide
Room Positioning:   Flexible, to suit room layout
Height: 200mm (8in.)
Width: 420mm (16.5in.)
Depth: 180mm (7.25in.)

Spent 2 hrs listening to this baby yesterday. thanks to the very accommodating Noel & Tyrone.

I must say they are truly stunning (the speakers, not Noel & Tyrone ;D, joke). They dissapear into the room and silky smooth vocals indeed. Another visitor also passed by and was surprised at the size of the speakers & the sound.

Hats off to AA for bringing this wonderful speaker here!

Audition them!

I am a happy owner of the Castle Richmond 3i which is currently set-up in a 14 sqm room.  I must say that it produces silky smooth mids and tight bass which can similarly be compared to a floorstander.  It is also bi-wirable and the binding posts are well made.  The treble unit is off-centered which IMO gives you options on the how to achieve your preferred sound stage.  It can be positioned either on the outer or inner end to soothe your preference.

I have compared this to the Aurum Cantus Leisure 2SV and I must say, I went for the Richmond as it provided better detail and tighter bass.

Thanks to Tyrone and Noel of Audio Amplified for introducing the Castle product.  This is is best value for the buck.

Hi guys.  Just got my Castle Richmond 3i.  While listening to it, I found that the 4ohm switch gives slightly better results vs the 8ohm switch in my AMX KT88 amp.

I'm more inclined to keep the amp at the 4ohm mode.  Will running the amp at 4ohms do any long-term damage to the Castles, which are rated as 8ohm speakers?

Thanks!

BTW, the speakers really sound great.  I didn't need an external DAC pala.  I just needed this.  Quite exciting, since this is my first mid to high end speaker. . .
