Suggest naman po kayo.

potentially, the new incoming samsung model... but this still hard to say.. as no shops have them in stock yet...

wait a few moths for the manufacturers to bring out their 1080p and hdmi 1.3 models to coincide with the ps3 :)

Just make sure that your getting 40" above to maximise your source's 1080p resolution.

So basically if the size isn't 40" at least, there won't be any difference between 720p and 1080p even with HDMI?

there is a difference, its just much harder notice it on smaller lcd's

personally, i plan to connect my computer to my future lcd tv, so the 1080p helps since it translates to more desktop space.. but i'd also, need a very powerful system to crank out that resolution, especially in games..
imagine playing oblivion on 1920x1080 poor cpu hehe

that's a neat idea. i plan on getting a better computer next year just for vista ultimate and dx10 gaming. it should be nice to use the media center feature with a good screen.

but there is another news around that western lcd manufacturer's will reduce production by 10% in order to prevent lcd price from dropping :P

of course with taiwan, china, korea and japan ramping up production i doubt it would cause any impact outside of the united states.

...Problem with waiting vs. instant gratification is this...
A 30-40" 1080p @hdmi v1.3 will come out eventually probably at over P300,000, then they'll announce hdmi v1.4 or some new interface... so you'll end up waiting again  ;D

Some people have been waiting for an HD player to replace their 480p players, while in my case, have been watching upscaled/upsampled DVDs at 720p/1080i for 2 years now.

So the big question is, is it worth the wait?
True 1080p material isn't even accessible to most people...I'm guessing 5-10 years before it does.  So either wait that long...or enjoy what is available now   ;D

Then when it does become accessible...next question is, was there a big difference in quality?  (maybe they'll announce a 2160p or something by then)
In my case I can't even tell the diference between 480p and 720p/1080i on a 120" screen or a 40" LCD most of the time (really have to look)...so I doubt 720p vs 1080p would really matter (to me at least).

If it does, then I'll get one...at least I didn't have to wait   ;D

the samsung 32 inch lcd which 1080p costs srp 279k with freebies and stuff.. so its not at 300k.. but still pricey hehe

they actualy announced recently hdmi 1.3a !!! cant they make up their mind... plus 1.3a will need a different cable to take advantage of its full bandwidth.

well based on his post.. i presume he plans to pair with his ps3 which provides 1.3 content.
but if has a ps3 already he better buy an lcd already and just wait for the next gen 1080p lcd to cheap..

Then when it does become accessible...next question is, was there a big difference in quality?  (maybe they'll announce a 2160p or something by then)

It's a moving technology meaning it keeps changing to a higher & better tech. So it's a waiting game if one's willing to do so.  True...by the time HDTV with HDMI 1.3 becomes affordable, maybe the latest HDMI 1.5 is out na.  ::)

We should not look for a particular version of HDMI but rather for the functuality that we want the device to support (deep color, specific audio format, etc).

All versions of teh HDMI specifications support the ability to watch HD-DVD or BD content in high definition up to 1080p resolution. :) Probably, now it's a very good time to buy the entry level of 720p to 1080i  HDTV as the cost has dropped so much.  :)

BTW, for 32" daw, 1080i is just enough kasi no noticeable diff daw sa 1080p. Mas maaappreciate daw ang 1080p sa screens 42" above. Can anyone confirm this? From what I know progressive is always better than interlaced, especially for fast-motion responses.

After experiencing my own 42" size in action at 720p, I'd say in order to maximize 1080p, preferably go for HD display 50" & above.

For 720p, HD display from 32" to 42" are fine. There are some LCDs that really popout the details even at a smaller screen. :)

is connecting a PS3 to a Samsung 244T (24" w/ HDCP support) using HDMI-DVI cable a good idea? Im viewing only 3-5ft from the screen.

I think this is the cheapest way to get 1080p. Any idea where I can find a Samsung 244T?

I saw a Promac 32" LCD TV in a store at the 2nd floor of Harrison Plaza. I just forgot the model but it sells for only Php 45K. It has HDMI input aside from component and s-video. Cable ready and with built-in stereo speakers. When i saw it, it was playing videoke and the pq is very good. Kung nagkataon na may pera ako, baka naiuwi ko yun.
