wow i don't understand USA harman kardon website? Why do they need to block my ip address. it is very puzzling. i never get blocked by the other big brands like denon, onkyo, pioneer or anthem
i guess they dont want my business.
Very disappointing harman, the way you treat your customers.

Im planning to purchase the HK AVR 1700 (AVR 170) since its now on sale here at Best Buy for only $199. My question is does it have optical/coaxial outputs? Planning to hook it up temporarily to my Yamaha soundbar which has only a optical and coaxial input for digital sources.

Congrats with your new AVR.

The new Harman AVRs run SMPS power supplies to supposedly reduce their carbon footprint (reduced power consumption, material requirement and shipping weight). I think the reduced manufacturing cost is an unadvertised driver for this move as well.

Haven't tested audio yet since the only speaker i have now is a yamaha soundbar. Tested video using a Sony BD player and my xboix 360 and no issues. Can't wait to get 5.1 speakers.

I noticed that the new models starting from the entry level going up has their "per watt" channel increased.

Is this a good thing? I know harman kardon tends to be conservative on what they put on their specs (watts per channel).

I have a roomate who is leaving so he gave to me his avr240. Anyway, im looking for a front speaker that is match and can be handled by my avr. Can anyone recommend a bookshelf type speaker?

Just in the entry level or mid level one lang po..

Di ako masyadong familiar sa JBL models eh. But what I used before was the LS series...
Nung pinakinggan ko cya before driven by Harman AVR, the combination is very musical
