You can verify this from your player or cable which normally mentioned something like "AC input 100v-240v" then it's safe to use in either voltage source.

It is not indicated.
But logically, this is a cost-saving measure for Sony.

Common Production Lines and Production Control for Power Supply Board.

As per john5479 his Taiwan version unit specifically indicates 110v. But are we safe to assume the Taiwan edition should be similar to the US & Jap counterparts?  ;D

From the link given & explained by nels76, yes it appears Sony does made PS3 universally powered. :)

Unless john5479 would also be brave enough too to remove the case on his US PS3 and verify inside the power supply "100v-240v"...  ;D

Dont want to be rude guys but why do you have to take such risk kung di kayo sure and you have a transformer already?

Anyway, PS3 is autovolt detect as far as I know.  It should be written in the manual somewhere in the specs table.

use component video cables. ps2 cables are compatible w/ ps3 so you can try looking for those.

I bought one last November at Toy Kingdom SM Megamall.

Costing P1,800.

I bought it primarily for the PS2.

I used it once in my PS3 and it did feed my LCD with 1080i (FOR GAMING)

Since his intention is to use it as Blu Ray Player, he will not be able to view movies in 1080p
becuase 1080p passes onlu through HDMI.

1080i for movies on Component Cable will be possible for now until HDCP is implemented in soon in Blu Ray Movies.
(Folks, correct me if I am wrong).

The key to appreciating HD quality when viewing on a 32 inch HD CRT is to watch as close as possible.  Your eyes and head will probably hurt though.  Since this thread is about the PS3, please make certain that your particular TV model is HD compatible with the PS3 through component or D-terminal.

thanks again! i believe that it is. fortunately i found some documentation referring to it as an hd ready monitor. manufactured in 2000, its part of the line-up called Provision GA!Z. has 2 d-terminals and 1 component that im currently enjoying watching at 480p. just want to see the difference on a real hd source.

cheers!

I think it was only one store that did that. And only the first 100 buyers so it more publicity than act of desperation... :P :P

every promotional scheme being done now on both sides are just like that, and IMO, for marketing and promotions.  Its just too early to make any desperate moves when we all know that the HD market havent even taken a scratch at the huge DVD market.  Its just way to early......thats why I now can see  the reason why the BD group is making ridiculous claims...its publicity...its news.....and it reaches people, even the joe-6-pack....or as we would term it here, the average guy.......and through it, word of mouth begins.........after all, both camps will need all the brand recognition they can get after they failed in hitting their sales targets...
