Same question.  So far I have only tried Region A.  I am also wondering if these are multi-region units.  I believe my PS3 is Asia.

Is there a way to unlock it and make it multi-region for movies?

This is the info I got also from where I purchased my PS3.  They say that it will play all region games.  They are just not sure about movies.  I haven't tested it though for both games and movies, since I only have Region A.

After buying an Optical Cable, I just discovered that the HTIB does not have an Optical in.  I used the AV cable instead that came with the PS3 for the audio.  Video is still connected via HDMI.  Somehow it worked naman.  I'm just not certain if this is already the best audio output that I can get from it.  Is there any other cable that I can use perhaps?

so, hindi digital ang output nyan from ps3?

Probably not.  But I can't really say at times.  There are certain BDs that are ok, but again, I can't really distinguish the difference as the HTIB is somewhat underpowered.  Most of the time, when I play BDs, volume is maxed out.  Mas malakas pa pag DVD lang.

Sa akin ganun din, Asian PS3. And kung US PS3 naman, region A bds and region 1 dvds naman.

Meron bang gagawin para maging region free yung dvd ng PS3?

I talked to a Datablitz personnel yesterday about using PS3 as Bluray. He said that they dont normally suggest watching BDs movies using the PS3 because it could stress the unit... Any of you encounter BD movie playback using PS3? My plan is to use it as BD player (connected to my HTIB) and some games for my little ladies..

I was about to purchase it yesterday but still doing some research if its a good buy than a dedicated BD player.

And also, What games would recommend for ages 5-10 (girls)?

I don't see it that way.  CNET ranks it even as one of the best blu-ray players.  With games, you're using it just the same.  I just hardly play pirated DVDs on it.  Use it in moderation, i guess it should be fine.

Tough question...

I made my 6-year-old niece play with PS3 games (Little Big Planet, Disney Universe Demo), ayaw nya... Mas gusto pa nya mag Wii (Dora games and Go Diego Go games).

dual lens naman po ang slim na latest model, one for games and the other one for movie viewing...kaya di gaanong malalaspag ang lens...unless salangan nyo ng jack sparrow copies!

Mr. Dynamic/I-tech sells the slim one for 11,500 (160gb)
DataBlitz (12,900) white 160gb

for the 320gb I don't know yet...

My launch 60GB developed the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD) last week. So I have been using my Acer laptop as my Blu-ray player, unfortunately it wouldn't play certain Fox titles. Luckily there is a guy locally who can fix it (cost 2K) now it is as good as new and I am finally able to watch my Star Wars Saga.

If you live in Cebu and your PS3 Develops YLOD call this number 0917-3200223.
Units fixed in one day and come with 1 Month warranty.

I already bought my PS3 at Datablitz Festival mall a week ago (P13,400 320g)  ;D

Question sir/s,

Im also planning to purchase a receiver (Pioneer VSX521). Can I connect the PS3 HDMI to the receiver and use the HDMI out of the receiver to my LCD?  and also, can I use my old pioneer component speakers for 2.1 setup for the meantime (I can only afford to buy the receiver for now  :()?

Sorry for the noob question... ;)

Thank you in advance!

Hi.  Anyone who purchased a new Asian PS3 Slim lately?  Can you confirm if it can play Region B Blu-ray movies?
