« on: Dec 16, 2006 at 05:51 PM »
Buena Vista Home Entertainment has now officially announced The Prestige for release on February 20th, 2007. Director Christopher Nolan's twisty thriller (it deserves more than one viewing) stars Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, David Bowie and Andy Serkis. The disc arrives with a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, "The Director's Notebook: The Cinematic Sleight of Hand of Christopher Nolan" documentary, "The Art of The Prestige" gallery and trailers. Retail is $29.99. Also look for a Blu-ray Disc edition day-and-date.

Although the R1 is a Buena Vista release, I was informed earlier at my favorite Astrovision branch that the R3 version of The Prestige will be released in the Philippines early next month by Warner.

Did Warner also handle this film's Philippine theatrical run?

That sure is welcome news Mr. Hankey!  Then the DVD is in good hands.

It's not unusual to find these arrangements among studios.  When two companies co-finance a project, the norm would be one would distribute the theatrical run as well as the DVD release in North America and the other outside North America.

Yup. I guess one of the most popular examples of this would be that little boat movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio...  ;D
