how much is your budget sir?
here are some good options to choose from
-usher dancer BE718
-VSA VR-1
-LSA LSA1
-totem acoustics rainmaker
-vienna acoustics haydn
-monitor audio GS10
-proac response 1SC

if youll be starting from scratch, any1 from this list would be a winner.
if you already have the amp, just audition which 1 would match best with your amp.

id agree also with AW...ERA and AC are also good sounding speakers especially if you want that non-fatiguing, smooth-sounding type of presentation.

add also,
B&W CM1
paradigm S2 signature
merlin TSM
proac tablette reference 8 (signature edition, better yet)

u can never go wrong with any of these options plus the ones on prev thread. just find the pair that suits your personal criteria based from the gears that u already own at present(assuming u wudnt change anything soon):)

enjoy the hunt sir. wed be very excited to know which pair uv ended up with.

thankyou all for the quick replies.  :) My budget for the speakers isn't that high though...max ko na siguro is 12-15k. I know it's not that high. By the way, is it better to get a floor stander or a bookshelf would suffice?

re: the 90db, i know klipsch has a high sensitivity rating, is there a big difference between their Reference series as compared to the Synergy series?

at your budget you might want to consider the polk tsi and rti bookshelves. i'm sure you'll be satisfied with them. i can give you a good deal on them as well. :)

a bs or a fs....would depend on your room size, preference, and type of music.

among these, it is the "preference" thing that gets changed as your experience and exposure to audio goes through time.

normally your standard and criteria would get more and more critical as you listen to many a different good 2ch systems.

train your ears. know what's important and what's not important as far as your personal criteria for good sound is concernd.

there are no shortcuts. just take your time to listen, enjoy, ask around, read...

With the choices you have lined up, I will opt with the Klipcsh speakers as they have the highest sensitivity rating of the bunch. 14 watts is around 11 dbF, this means that for 89dB speaker, your max. output is just 100 dB. Tubes do not have dynamic headroom hence you have to get the most efficient speaker at your disposal.

If you like orchestral works, pop music, and  maybe a little rock then you have to have a speaker at least 95 dB efficiency.

95dB refers to a speaker's sensitivity.

you can ask somebody here or much better listen to it. on top of that of all speakers you've listed above still I would choose the titus. otherwise follow accastil recommendation if you want to end up upgrading.

Bassman is right titus 202 is very easy to drive especially if you mate it with tubes. Mine is connected to a 3 watter amp and to me the sound is very good.

@watsons several years ago I also have a el84 14watter amp connected to a b&w302 and the sound is also good to my ears. Di na umabot sa market place yun speakers nun inalok ko sa friend ko.
