This may sound funny if not weird but during my early years in audio, I had a pair of DIY dai-ichi speakers which I modified to have seletable tweeter congifuration.- one using a large piezo-electric horn tweeter sitting on top of the speaker box to play instrumentals and the other using the usual dome tweeters I select for pop, jazz and bright-sounding LPs.
These days, reading so many reviews about different speakers confirm my suspiciion that certain speaker brands and materials are more suited to sounding certain music genre than others Like a horn-loaded tweeter/midrange sounding more detailed with wind and brass instrumentals but awful on vocals or operatic arias, while speakers with soft or silk dome tweeter sounding more airy and sweeter for vocals, etc. but lacking detail in complex orchestral music. So on and so forth
My musical taste encompass quite a few music genres. so I can't help but think that if I settled for one brand or type of speakers, I couold miss out on the detail or depth or whatever that another brand might bring to a music genre that I listen to. Is this a valid concern? Are there audiophiles out there that have 2 or more sets of speaker pairs that they select to sound different types of music? Will buying the most expensive speakers solve this "speaker paranoia?"
