AOC 19" LCD widescreen monitor retailing in computer shops for less than 13T with a promo: "Trade in your CRT for 2T discount." Wonder how this performs compared with the likes of Samsung.

starting thread for this lcd monitor...

19 inch wide screen lcd monitor with analog and dvi in.

this monitor is currently at 9,999 when you trade-in your old crt monito, the flyer said they will only accept 14-15 inch models but they accepted my old 19 inch crt.. so i guess np there.

also, if some shop tells it's 2k off... you should correct them and say irregardless of current price of the lcd, it should only cost 9,999 as this was how it was advertised and prized.

i'd liek to note that this promo will only last until the end of december.

my unit has backlight bleeding on the top and bottom.. i'd like to ask if this is common with the other owners of this lcd?

I have one and my kids have been abusing it for the past 3 months(got it October, at PC Bodega for 11.9K)

I did not noticed any backlight bleeding on mine.

This one really got me when I saw it and the promo. I was wondering what on earth will they do with a traded-in CRT. Resell it in Africa or something?

At any rate, this seems like a great value for an LCD PC monitor. AOC has been around for a while as one of the cheapest Taiwan-made PC monitor brands around. When I get the chance, I'll have it demoed in the computer shop at SM Sucat, if they still have it.

they will be donating it to charity... if i remember right.. its some specific schools in the province...

HI. Pardon my ignorance...but can you use such a monitor direct as a LCD for dvd players direct (sans PC/graphics card)? Are there TV tuners that can turn such into a working TV (again, sans PC).

So the trade-in monitor needs to be in working condition?... as I have an AOC CRT in storage but it's have some problems...

Got this monitor and so far I'm happy with it. No bleeding whatsoever! Brighter and with better resolution than my MAG LCD

some dvd players have vga or dvi out, those can play on a lcd monitor.
and yes there are tv tuners that can turn an lcd monitor to an lcd tv.

yes trade in monitor must be in working condition.

Using its VGA terminal, it can connect to a DVD player with one. I am often pleasantly surpised those cheap generic DVD players costing less than 2T like some Rainbow and Promac models have VGA terminals which can connect directly to ANY PC monitor. I am not sure even the cheapest branded DVD players sport one.

But TV tuners? I am not aware they'd have VGA or DVI. Unless perhaps, they're the newer HD or digital tuners that accept only digital broadcast.

There's a lot being sold in Gilmore, in fact, they are stand alone TV tuners, with a capture card for your desktop, someone posted it at the Asst. Buy/Sell thread, with a Php 2500, but can be had at Gilmore for only 1.8-2.2K.

There is some backlight bleeding on the upper and lower edges. It is only mildly noticeable when everything is black and the backlight is turned ON.

my guess, its for older tech lcd panels.. cause my office lcd and the modern laptops i use never exhibit such backlight bleeding

I think it's normal for this cheap monitor. We essentially get what we pay for. I suspect that the price will remain at Php10K without the need to trade in a old monitor soon after the promo period is over.

mga 10K plus pa rin,got this monitor last October pa during the promo and used heavily by the kids & myself daily for gaming and surfing. so far, ok na ok pa rin performance

10K nalang 19" na LCD. Just this January I bought a 19" Viewsonic for P11K flat nabawasan na ng 1k in 2 months

The AOC 19" LCD widescreen has been only 9.5T at one of the computer shops at Sucat SM since January

Here in taiwan, the price of 19" W monitor is less than Php 7500 (generic brand).

Just sharing.
