How can you tell if an R3 title is DVD5 or DVD9?

hi, I've read that most R3 titles are in DVD5, is this true? Which distributor releases the most
DVD9 titles locally? Which R3 titles are available ba locally? Thanks and Happy New Year.

Not really.  Most Warner Bros. titles are DVD9, except those that fits on a DVD5 (ie short films, cartoons, educational videos).  They are all imported.

Magnavision has both DVD9 and DVD5.  For new releases, DVD9 are priced at 895 and DVD5 are priced at 475.  Older titles are harder to differentiate.  Most of those discounted to 375 and 333 titles are DVD9s.  Those that sells for 295, 3-for-600 are DVD5. Viva (Fox and Disney) are mostly DVD9 except those new titles at sells at 375. 

C Interactive titles are all DVD5.

Pilipino films can be DVD5 or DVD9.  Many Star films are in DVD9.  I am not sure about GMA films but Rizal is DVD9.  Most Regal films are DVD5.

DVD5 - Single Sided/Single Layer  - This is the most common replicated DVD produced. A DVD5 will hold approx 4.7 GB data or 120 minutes of high quality audio and video. All DVDs contain two substrates that are bonded together. On a DVD5, one substrate contains the data on one layer and the other is a pitiless layer without any information. A DVD-R is suitable as a master for replication.
 
DVD9 - Single Sided/Dual Layer - This DVD format is increasing in popularity due to its ability to hold up to 4 hours of audio and video or 8.54 GB of data. It is a dual layer disc. A DLT is the only acceptable master for this type of DVD.

Also, by looking at the reflective layer portion of the disk, look at the inner ring near the center. A DVD-9 contains 2 separate numbered codes ending with A and B or 1 and 2 ata.
