Daisy chaining two electronic crossover for subs
« on: Jan 03, 2007 at 12:46 PM »
what happens when you daisy chain two electronic subwoofer crossover (18db per octave rolloff),  Will I get a 36 DB per octave rolloff... which I assume is better at removing those unwanted frequencies from leaking into the subs

The setup would be  pre-amp to input of x-over 1 , output of x-over 1 to input of x-over 2,  output of x-over 2 to input of power amp

Thanks

Technically speaking yes. But you must watch out for phase angle problems, phasing, delay, etc. As I have found in my earlier experiments, even 3rd order (18dB) active crossovers with an f3 of 50Hz would have a hard time filtering some low note human speech. But a true subwoofer and a reasonably designed box would help to minimize and/or render such signals inaudible.
