Friday Night Lights
« on: Jan 04, 2007 at 04:55 PM »
Not sure when this will premiere but saw a promo earlier on ETC.

I agree with most critics that this is the best show to debut this season. It's even better than the movie. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton could rival Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber (Medium) as the most realistic couple on the boob tube these days. They shine best during the romantic comedy subplot. It's not just an engaging sports drama, the teen drama echoes the bittersweet atmosphere of Everwood as well.

The guy playing Matt Saracen is so good at playing the dorky QB, so natural. In real life kasi parang he admitted he's pilyo and a chick magnet in High School. ;D

for those who like this show, the dvd is scheduled for release on August 28 at SRP $29.98.. so that's probably going to be around $19-$20 at amazon.. It's going to be a 5-disc set with deleted scenes on each disc and a making-of documentary.. not bad, right?

Okay, my DVDs of the series and the movie arrived from Amazon today.

One question: are they in any way related, or can I proceed to the series without watching the movie?

You can go ahead with the series without watching the movie. The TV adaptation and the movie only share the same characters and visual style but the stories are not related. The series have become far superior to the movie as it progressed.

I'm really enjoying Season 4 so far. I guess it's really human nature to root for the underdog.

No one else left that's into this show?

Still watching it. Some episodes still give me goosebumps. Good thing I stuck with the series in spite of the terrible second season. Eric and Tami is still the best TV couple to date. The deal with DirecTV not only ensured the survival of the series but also gave the production team more creative freedom.

I love it!  This is my favorite show for the past three years.  I'm glad DTV picked it up.

I was really glad when they renewed it earlier this year for both Seasons 4 and 5. Although Taylor Kitsch will have scheduling conflicts next season, so will be in less episodes.

I'm having fun watching the changes that Buddy Garrity has gone through over 4 seasons. I never thought there would come a time during this show's run that I didn't despise the guy!

Been watching since season 1. Two things worth mentioning about the current season so far:

1. I can't believe that Wallace from The Wire is now a man.
2. Eric and Tami Taylor's baby daughter kinda freaks me out.

A very satisfying (if predictable) season for me.

It's gonna be a long wait until the next new episode!

Season Premiere: 10/27/10

This phenomenal show has been the little series that could, with DirecTV's unusual deal with NBC allowing it to run far longer than similarly ratings-challenged series usually do. This will be the final season of Friday Night Lights, but the show goes out with its head held high as it enters a very respectable Season 5. We'll continue to see how Coach Eric Taylor (Chandler) struggles to build the East Dillon Lions into a force to be reckoned with, while Tami (Connie Britton), per usual, makes some bold choices, in her new role as East Dillon's guidance counselor.

As the show continues to show the passage of time, Jesse Plemons ("Landry Clarke") and Taylor Kitsch ("Tim Riggins") both depart as series regulars, but look for both actors to make guest appearances, as nearly all of the original cast, including Scott Porter ("Jason Street"), Adrianne Palicki ("Tyra Collette") and Zach Gilford ("Matt Saracen"), are set to return at various points during the final season.
