Topic: need help to decide 34 crt or 32 lcd

im going to use this for regular cable tv programs, dvd, vhs, cd  (vhs & cd  player is for my kids educational tape)

I use a 34 flat CRT for my room. It's ok for me for now since I dont have budget for an LCD  . Using it for DVD at wide screen, its equivalent to 27 inch LCD wide screen,hence 32 LCD is still much much bigger than 34 CRT when viewing wide screen. Go for 32 or bigger LCD if you have the budget.

I agree. If you have the budget, go for the LCD. Not only will it be cheaper in the long run, it would be much more enjoyable when watching dvds on a widescreen lcd.

since kids are involved... note that regular light guns used with Playstation and XBOX don't work on LCD.

however, LCD is better for the eyes that CRTs shooting photons into your eyes

IMO for regular tv watching and if you have the space (bulky) go for the 34CRT,less obvious yung imperfections or you can try to wait for a few months more for the lcd prices to go down further for it to be reasonable for cable watching

I'm using a 32" Samsung lcd and PQ is good for me. Most LCDs now have an option of changing aspect ratios so that normal tv viewing won't appear stretched.

Im using a philips pixel plus 34 in. CRT. I watch DVD using a samsung upscaller player to 1080i or 768p. So far, PQ is great.

The picture on an LCD or Plasma for that matter is not very good  from a cable source.  If you watch mostly cable you might be very bummed at the reception on some channels. IMHO Sport channels like ESPN and star sports etc. look really bad on LCD from ordinary cable.

Best thing is if possible to do a home demo of the LCD vs. the CRT?
