Good for HT & audio:

Try Q acoustics, you can get a 5.1 speaker system for around 40k

If you can stretch your budget, try Castle satellites. VERY good in music. Since they are a bit pricey, get the 3 front channels only & buy cheaper surrounds & a good sub.

These 2 speakers are well awarded.

If you can, go for the HK340, or there is a top of the line HK 5550 receiver (once 50k) being sold for a mere sub 30k in the B/S section. ALmost the price of a HK240! ;)

Once, I auditioned a satellite speaker system w/ a HK top of the line receiver. The speakers sounded really BIIIIG, like floorstanders! So its not in the size of the speakers... its in the quality of the receiver.

1. def tech pro cinema 1000

3. b&w mt-30
4. kef kht 2005.2
but i heard those are expensive choices...

i still havent auditioned any speakers.

other kinds being considered were :
1. energy take LCR
2. Polk Audio RM6800
3. wharfdale diamond speakers. (have seen a lot of good feedback)
4. mission (no idea what model yet)

The satellite speakers I auditioned with the HK receiver was an Infinity Beta HCS 5.1 speaker set. It would have been my recommendation before, but now the price has increased & after hearing the performance of the Q & castle, I would recommend them instead. But do check out the Infinities as well, they are not so bad.

if you really want it better, go for separates. start with a dedicated cdp, an integrated amp, and a pair of front speakers. your budget for the hk245 and 50k for speakers would be better spent this way. i just want you to have better SQ given your overall budget. once the upgrade fever starts, youll be ending up with this set up anyway.
