Preacher on HBO
« on: Feb 12, 2007 at 01:16 AM »
I dunno if it's been mentioned here, but, I just read on Wizard Magazine that HBO will make a series on Garth Ennis' Preacher. (Finally!)

Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider director) will executive produce and write the pilot, according to Wizard.

No cast mentioned, but Johnson mentioned that no name celebs will be used.

Seems like this is now a movie & no longer a TV series. Not sure if they plan it to be a movie trilogy or what, given the intricate storyline of the comic book series.

D.J. Caruso to Direct Preacher
by SuperHeroHype
Feb 22nd, 2011

I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso confirmed on Twitter that he will direct the Preacher adaptation at Columbia Pictures. He said:

"My deal just closed on Preacher. Going back to the dark side and pretty f*cking pumped!"

Based on the popular 1990s Vertigo series, the film will be produced by Neal Moritz and his Original Films as well as Kickstart Productions' Jason Netter.

Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, "Preacher" told the story of a down-and-out Texas preacher possessed by Genesis, a supernatural entity conceived by the unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon.

Given immense powers, the preacher teamed with an old girlfriend and a hard-drinking Irish vampire and set out on a journey across America to find God -- who apparently had abandoned his duties in heaven -- and hold him accountable for his negligence.

Caruso's film credits include Eagle Eye and Disturbia.
