...and another one. peter pan PE isn't even released yet    having second thoughts of collecting these PEs with the coming of HD. but i guess i can use these DVD PEs for multiple playback for the kids, and just collect the PEs in HD all over again for display

Im not quite sure if this will be included in the Blu-ray release sched. Based on the short ad included in the Cars DVD, line up includes:

Disney Home Video has sent over early details on the Platinum Edition of The Jungle Book which finally arrives in stores from the 2nd October. This new 40th Anniversary release will include an all-new digital restoration of the film, along with a 5.1 Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix soundtrack. A restored original theatrical soundtrack will also be included. Extras will include deleted songs (including a never before heard version of "I Wanna Be Like You"), an all-new music video, a DisneyPedia: Junglemania feature, all new interactive games, and much, much more. We'll bring you further details just as soon as they are revealed. Stay tuned. For now though, here's an early look at the official package artwork:

Proves without the slightest doubt that there's no such thing as an OOP title.  Certainly not from Disney.  As long as studios can milk money out of their archives.  Even Limited Edition is only as good its words, it means nothing. "Limited Time" only ?  If i can recall, that's what many titles are when they got released.  Every DVD title has a limited production time.  Until the next editions comes along.  So what's next?  Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Little Mermaid, etc, etc, etc.    You can bet on it.

I think the limited they're referring to is the slip case.

for me, it's a nice inducement for the market to buy the title right away.  doesn't really matter if the production run is indeed limited.  It's probably just more limited than others.  But no matter, expect some next edition to come out sooner or later.

Of course, they will return.  But for a certain amount of time, they were indeed OOP.  Titles like Snow White, Beauty and The Beast, Lion King, Pinocchio, 101 Dalmatians are out of print for at least 3 years (and still is).   Most of those will return in a year or two in new DVD and Blu-ray editions,  but Disney's have indicated such when they were first released (ie 7-year hiatus for Snow White). 

Some titles like Bambi II, and Narnia LE are indeed two months production runs (Bambi II is sold out at Amazon but Narnia EE is still available).   

Disney is not re-releasing it's CLASSICS left and right as other studios does.
