re: Panasonic TH-42PA60 - HD na ba ito? been seeing conflicting specs sa net. Some site walang HDMI resolution mababa lang, yung may HDMI mataas PC resoltion.
can anybody (barrister ) enlighten me on this.
Panasonic TH-42PA60 is not an HDTV. EDTV (Enhanced Definition TV) lang ito, with 852 x 480 pixels, with one HDMI input.
480 lang ang native resolution (actual number of pixels on the panel) nito, which makes it an EDTV only. Nakakalito, kasi "HD ready" din ito, which means that it can accept input resolutions of 720p and 1080i and scale it to the panel's native 480p, but it is still not an HDTV.
Personally, I don't worry too much about resolution because other aspects of picture quality are much more important.
According to the ISF (Imaging Science Foundation), the most important aspects of picture quality are: 1. contrast ratio, 2. color saturation, 3. color accuracy, and 4. resolution, in that order. Resolution is the least important, yet the bandwagon seems to think the opposite.

The TH-42PA60 is Panasonic's 9th generation plasma EDTV.
In the domestic market, the legit model from Panasonic Philippines is the TH-42PA60M:
http://panasonic.com.ph/viera/TH-42PA60M%20specs.htmOn the internet, I've observed that the 60M is also the official model for South Africa and Dubai.
Sa Philippine gray market, sir tylerdude got a TH-42PA60H for P90K. The 60H is probably a Singapore model. It should be cheaper now, kasi Feburary 2007 pa niya nabili ito.
Unless you can get the TH-42PA60 at a very low price, I suggest that you wait for the 42" 10th generation 768p models posted on the Panasonic Philippines website:
