Those who are in the business of selling DVDs are excluded from this thread, but only those who are getting rid of their private collection or parts thereof.  Well, whether you are tired of the hobby, need cash, or just want to get rid of titles to make room for more, or to replace them with better editions or the new steelbook editions, or with the new high definition formats HD DVD or Blu Ray, let us know what titles you've disposed off and why.  Disposed off means sold or just given away.  And if you plan to dispose of some titles, this could well be a prelude to listing them in the Buy & Sell section.

Plan to dispose of my old Titanic DVD as soon as I receive my new version.  Wala nang available na new version DVD sa Phil. R3, pero reregaluhan daw ako nito ng client ko na Canadian resident na ngayon.  ;D

I recently disposed of:

Single Disc R1 Batman/Batman Returns/Batman Forever/Batman & Robin - replaced with 2-Disc R3 Special Editions

R1 The Complete Superman Collection - Replaced with R3 Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition

R1 The King & I/South Pacific - Since they were non-anamorphic, and I was able to buy the R1 12-Disc Rodgers & Hammerstein Collection on sale.

R1 Jesus Christ Superstar - Since it was non-anamorphic, and replaced with R3 Jesus Christ Superstar SE.

Oh, I forgot:

Local VIVA Amityville 3D - Replaced that terrible, muddy, fullscreen, non-3D version with the remastered widescreen R2 version which included 3D glasses and lobby cards.

I am selling and giving away 90% of my DVDs to my cousins. I am selling some in the marketplace too.

I am migrating to BD and just keeping some DVDs as historical souvenirs.

Looking at my collection on shelves gathering dust,  I really can't see much compulsion retaining them with this new development on High Definition starting to penetrate markets.  I have recently disposed off Master and Commander and 2 Mulan movies.  And wll most likely respond to the Wanted DVD section from time to time.  ;D

I have sold most of my DVD collection.  The ones that truly matter to me (Star Wars, Matrix Trilogy, The Godfather, Band of Brothers, Jurassic Park Trilogy) were left behind, but will be disposed too once their HD copy is released.  The release of Matrix Trilogy in HD DVD prompted me to sell my Ultimate Matrix 10-disc collection with Neo bust.  I sold it to an offline friend.  Proceeds of the sale were used to purchase a PS3.  ;D ;D

disposing my dvds at a lower price is actually very hard for me. that's why i can't seem to get any buyers for my LOTR trilogy boxset  ;D  maybe i'll just leave the sealed dvds with the giftsets and dispose of the trilogy keepcase  ::)

so far that's the only title i have in mind. still thinking if i have to get rid of my spidey superbits  :-\

Seems to me that sooner or later most new DVD titles and current catalog titles  will be released in steebooks.  The incentive to start disposing some of your current amaray and digipack releases starts to be compelling to make room for more steelbook editions.  Ofcourse there's also the high def versions to think about.   ;D  There are ofcourse some great DVD packages worth retaining in your collection. But even so, sooner or later ther'd be better editions coming out and new high def versions as well.   I think HT collections are never meant to be static.   ;D

If you're contemplating on getting new steelbook editions and High Def versions,  I think this might be a good time to dispose off your collection.  Very few people at this time are aware of forthcoming steelbook editions or an understanding of high def.  Not that I am encouraging taking advantage of people's ignorance, (though if that is what my statement amounts to, my apologies), but let me just say that once majority are into steelbooks and high def, you just might have more difficulty asking for a good price for any in your aging DVD collection.   ;D
