Iron Man 2 Blu-ray goes on sale September 28 with plenty of extras



After breaking $300 million in the domestic box office and a record breaking (though initially flawed) predecessor, you'd figure Iron Man 2 would be in for an incredibly well-spec'd Blu-ray release... and you would be right. The three disc Blu-ray/DVD with Digital Copy set has plenty of extras including a 5.1 DTS-HD MA English soundtrack, commentary from director Jon Favreau and Previsualization and Animatics special features -- and that's just Disc 1. Disc 2 brings even more HD features including an extensive making of, more featurettes and a shout out to the late DJ AM. Check after the break for box art and all the other details in the press release (except for the MSRP) we'll be waiting to find out if this is a proper addition to the collection of reference quality discs this fall.

'Alien' - A space ship answers what they believe to be a distress call, and unwittingly let a vicious alien on board.

'Aliens' - Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor from the original 'Alien', is awakened after 57 years of drifting through space, her stories disbelieved by Company executives who tell her that the alien's planet is now inhabited and colonized. When contact is suddenly lost with the colonists, Ripley returns to the planet with a squad of marines, an android (Lance Henriksen), and a Company executive (Paul Reiser) with a mission of his own. Once on the planet, no survivors can be found except for Newt, a little girl who awakens motherly instincts in Ripley just in time for the acid-blooded aliens to attack in what quickly becomes a one-sided battle for sheer survival.

'Alien3' - A penal colony and its inhabitants, a religious brotherhood of ex- convicts, is infiltrated by an alien when a ship carrying Ripley crash lands there.

'Alien: Resurrection' - Ripley is brought back to life, from cloned DNA, by evil scientists who want to resurrect the alien that died inside her.


This six-disc set contains about 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images, including material from the legendary early 1990s LaserDisc release, the "Legacy" release and the Quadrilogy DVDs. 20th Century Fox claims that the four Alien films have been "reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience."

New, previously unreleased content includes original screen tests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original Alien, unseen deleted scenes, and the previously unseen original cut of "Wreckage and Rage: The Making of Alien3" (so far only available in truncated form).

This edition will incorporate the "MU-TH-UR Mode," an interactive feature that lets you access the special features on all six discs and provides an index of all available content.

The Anthology offers nearly five hours of additional video Enhancement Pods created exclusively for this collection, presenting behind-the-scenes footage, raw dailies and interview outtakes from all four films. Incubus: Look Alive is a dedicated summation of the state of Incubus, the alt-metal band born in the San Fernando Valley. Generally well-regarded by music critics who have noted the group’s evolution since its formation in 1991, Incubus emphasizes tracks from their most recent album, Light Grenades, on Look Alive, a concert disc shot during a world tour. While the seemingly low-key band takes to the road in some fairly exotic places, it demonstrates during live performances of the jangly "Quicksand," the hard-rocking "Megalomaniac," and dramatic "Anna Molly" that vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger, bassist Dirk Lance, and drummer Jose Pasillas are close to mastering their ever-developing penchant for radical tonal shifts within songs. Melodically drifting while rhythmically sputtering and exploding, Incubus’ most up-to-date work, perhaps especially played in concert, proves the group is exploring uncharted territory of its own. A novel element on this disc is travel footage from the band’s tour, including images from Israel, Dubai, London, and peculiarly beautiful, surreal shots of Iceland.
