Medyo disappointing.

Yung Part I lang daw ang remastered, so Part I lang ang magkakaroon ng improved PQ?

And the PQ of all 3 extended verions will only have the same PQ as the theatrical Parts II & III?

Warner doesn't seem willing to spend much for the LOTR Blu-rays.  Jologs kasi itong New Line, e ...  >:(  Maybe it was Time-Warner money that was used to settle the lawsuit by the Tolkien heirs vs. New Line Cinema, and they want to recover expenses first.

Same here, I'd thought they would brush up a bit on TTT & RTK but at least they got FOTR improved.
I watched all the BD theatrical edition, Part 1 FOTR was quite bad. Though not perfect overall Parts II & III are quite good & acceptable. :)

The Island Blu-ray (June 21)
http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=6142&page=

One of my favorite sci-fi flicks.

I've had this for a long time -- Region A Philippines from Astro V-Mall.  One of my first BD purchases.

Lossy Dolby Audio, single-disc BD-25, no Java.  Pretty old by today's standards.  But sound and picture are good, except for some bad shimmering in one scene.  Oversaturated colors, high contrast and film grain (35mm Kodak) are all intact.

The present release for areas outside the US is by Warner.  Due to licensing problems, they weren't able to release in the US previously.

Lucky you, the US release in June 2011 by Paramount will have a newly mastered sound (DTS-HD MA) and picture, this time on a Java-enabled BD-50 disc.  I'm sure they've already corrected that shimmering scene.

Oh I didn't know they released Region A Philippines previously. I got the red HD DVD copy which is also in Lossy Dolby Audio but no shimmering. Finally after years of waiting, it's near na... :D

I am really excited about the Star Wars Blu-Ray and have pre-ordered it months ago. Sadly, I find the covers a little boring. Have seen better fan-made posters than those.

Ya I heard about that Paul. But I will still buy it hehe. I'm still contemplating if it deserves the 1200 pesos premium over amazon by getting it 3 days earlier hehe. Recently, I have been more patient, unlike before haha..Who knows I might wait until the 4th quarter when it hits 50 bucks? hahaha ;D

However on Star Wars, it is a first day purchase for me haha..
