Retailers To Stop Selling Samsung LCD And Plasma TVs
By David Richards | Sunday | 13/05/2007

"No other current or past Samsung LCD or plasma models are affected. This issue only effects selected shipments of new models.

"The models in question are the LA40M81/BDX, LA46M81/BDX, LA32R81/BDX, LA40R81/BDX, PS42Q91/HDX and the PS50Q91/HDX.

"Samsung is currently investigating the matter, and taking the necessary quality control steps to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

"Samsung is informing its retail partners of the tuner fault, and will continue to provide updates as they become available. Until the matter has been resolved, Samsung has recommended that retailers temporarily hold off selling these units.

"Dealers and customers can contact Samsung on 1300 362 603. A dedicated phone path has been created, so that callers will receive priority on their query.

"Samsung's mission is to provide innovative digital convergence products that possess exceptional technology, quality, features and value. Commitment to quality and superior customer service is, and always will be, our number one priority."

DigiTimes: Samsung revealed it has suspended sales of several of its LCD TVs and PDP (plasma display panel) TVs because of defective digital tuners and will help solve issues with those already sold to customers, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

Affected LCD TV models include the LA40M81, LA46M81, LA32R81 AND LA40R81 (sizes from 32, 40 to 46 inches) while PDP TV models include the PS42Q91 and PS50Q91 (42 and 50 inches), EDN said.

Samsung has notified retailers to stop selling the goods and have set up special services for consumers having purchased the models, the paper indicated.

this does not apply to asian models.. especially those here in the phils. and it wouldnt matter at all if they dump it here!! nnot to mention these are differents models than sold locally..

the problem is with the HD TUNER!! which does not exist on local models.. and you wouldnt be able to use it any if the hd tuner was working.. unless your very lucky that the model's hd tuner you got is compatible with with "future" hd over the air standard what will be used in the philippines.

in conclusion.. our retailers.. dont even have these models... amen :)

Are the new models they're selling here equipped with digital tuners? If not then I don't think we'll have to worry about this problem here as the models that are affected are those with integrated digital tuners... BDX line of LCD and plasma TVs.
