Hi Guys, I am thinking of upgrading my Yamaha RX-V995 receiver to a newer model (i.e. RX-V659), though, besides the obvious new features like 7.1ch, PLIIx, 96/24 sampling, etc. I want to ask your expert opinions if it is definitely a step up to my old receiver, if my priorities are primarily sound quality for a/v use and some 2ch music, power, and good surround sound in movies. Also, I really don't need 7.1ch since my room is quite small and my listening sofa is against the back wall.
I also noticed that most dvd films are still based on the 5.1 soundtrack, thus, I feel that most new coding features like dts-es would be rarely used.
Are the new receivers really a revolution or just an evolution of the 1st and 2nd generations?  ???
Thanks.
