Selling a Pioneer DVD Player: Need your opinions!
« on: Jun 25, 2007 at 01:12 PM »

Guys, I'm selling my Pioneer DVD Player/Karaoke DV-575K-S because we recently acquire a home theater system (Sony) and this makes the player redundant (aka dust-gatherer). I got this for P7.5k back in Nov. 2004. It is still in perfect working condition. I will even offer a personal 1-month warranty.

Now, how much should I sell it nowadays? I'm thinking P4.5k. How do you think?

Thanks!!!

A good rule of thumb is to find the current model that is the most similar to the unit you're selling.  Get the price of the new unit, then multiply by 50% or higher to get your selling price.

The rationale behind this formula is that if the old model is not much cheaper than the new one, then most buyers would rather buy the new model, 1 year to pay with 0% interest pa sa credit card.

A brand new Pioneer that supports DivX sells for less than P4K.  You can even get it at 12mos installment.
So your price would be too high.

I suggest you give it away to a relative who can use it and be a hero  ;D.  Or use it with the kitchen TV.

Or sell it at about P2K.  At 2K, you are competing against cheap, generic, brand new DVD players that can also play DivX.  Your advantage is karaoke+the Pioneer brand name/reliability.  I have an old Pioneer from 1998 and it's still in use for audio.

I've got 4 DVD players at home, plus three PC based DVDrom players.  Selling wouldn't have been worth the effort or the time considering the prices of brand new players.

nakakahinanyang ibenta kasi mababa lang ang resale value eh.... I'd rather give it sa kamaganak or friend na may gusto...  :D

I agree. Your P2k estimate is how I would price it using my formula:  Brand new price of P4k x 50% = P2k.  Can be higher than P2k, depending on the unit's condition.

For me, the biggest advantage of the new Pioneer players is the seamless layer transition for dual layer discs.  The new models have a buffer that stores the data before the layer switch activates.  No pause can be seen or heard during the layer transition because the player is temporarily reading the buffer data.

Ang problema, siguradong masisira din yan.  Kung mabenta bago masira, e di salamat.  Kung mabenta pero hindi naman nasira for many years afterwards, salamat din dahil happy ang buyer.
