from DVD Times:

The Lives of Others (R1) in August

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Lives of Others on 21st August 2007 priced at $28.95 SRP. Critically acclaimed, and winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film of 2006, The Lives of Others is a suspenseful and emotionally charged look at the socialist state of East Germany during the early 1980s. The directorial film debut of Florian Henckel von Donnersmark and starring Martina Gedeck (The Good Shepherd), the film is set before the collapse of the Berlin Wall when East Germany’s population was closely monitored by the State Secret Police (Stasi). Only a few citizens above suspicion, like renowned pro-Socialist playwright George Dreyman, were permitted to lead private lives. But when a corrupt government official falls for Georg’s stunning actress-girlfriend, Christa, an ambitious Stasi policeman is ordered to bug the writer’s apartment to gain incriminating evidence against the rival. Now, what the officer discovers is about to dramatically change their lives -- as well as his -- in this seductive political thriller.

Extras include:
     Deleted Scenes
     Interview with the director
     Director’s Commentary
Making of The Lives of Others

Would like to see this. Was expecting Pan's Labyrinth to take home the Best Foreign Film Oscar instead of this...
