Barrister - would it be ok to play counter srtrike with this unit?  I know surfing should be avoided but are pc games ok?

No, I don't think games are OK with plasma panels.  Avoiding games helps prevent screen burn-in and image retention problems.

According to the Panasonic FAQ: (a) avoid video games during the break in period; (b) after the break in period, video games are OK, but don't pause for long periods of time.

http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vFAQ?page=PlasmaFAQ&storeId=15001&catGroupId=24973&catalogId=13401#tv4

=======================================================

Here's a summary of what they're saying in foreign forums:

(a)  Panasonic plasma has been practically burn-in proof since its 7th gen. model.  No problems with burn in or IR (image retention).

(b)  Pioneer has no problems with burn in, but sometimes shows IR.

(c)  Hitachi is prone to IR.

(d)  Samsung and Sony are burn-in prone.  (Sony discontinued its plasma line)

thanks guys! very useful info!  8)

laki pala ng price diff. :(  it'd be nifty to have 2-tuner PIP pa naman pero not worth P25K IMO even with SDHC.

Sir Nemesis, bakit yung sa akin hindi Ipod?  China made sya at wala pang FM?  Baka naman pwede palitan, its still in the box, my daughter won't use it, swap naman please... ;D,  will go there and get an HDMI 1.3 version if available.

I'm really enjoying my Pana 42PV70H matched with Pioneer DVD 400 1080p upscaler. i'm just noticing some greeny and violet shades during fast action scenes, especially black over whity background fast scenes. Although its only me noticing it. Oh no I'm seeing colors....  Any body noticing it as well?

Green tinge is normal in plasma panels.  Some people see it, some people don't.

Plasma panels have red, geen and blue phosphor coatings. The green phosphor is slightly slower than the red and blue.  On very fast motion, the green phosphor is not fast enough to keep up.  This causes an artifact called a "phosphor lag", which can be noticeable on very high contrast areas, such as a fast-moving black object against a white background.

I'm not sure about the violet shade you mentioned.  I'm guessing that it's an artifact of the blue phosphor.  Since the blue phosphor is the fastest and the green phosphor the slowest, you might be seeing a blue tinge in front and a green trail behind a fast-moving object.

Ah Thanks for the technical explanation. I thought I'm seeing colors na eh! Sobrang addict na sa kapapanuod.  At least I'm still normal.
Panasonic lang ba meron nito o also present with other brands?  Ganun pa man, malinaw pa rin, 3D effect. Enjoy!!!
Salamat po!

You're welcome, sir.

Hindi lang Panasonic, limitation talaga yan ng plasma technology.  The only solution is for the manufacturers to invent and formulate a faster green phosphor.  Matatagalan pa yan.  Kahit yung Pioneer Kuro walang bagong green phosphors.

from the plasma thread...

burn in is the only issue (and a major one at that) that's holding me back in buying a plasma. we watch SDTV with black bars on the sides coz i can't stand them stretched, squatted pictures! i fear the burn in of them black bars... and also of the channel logos, etc.

also use our HDTV for gaming and as a monitor. no burn-in issues with LCD so so far, so good.

really want the plasma PQ though so i'm in a dilemma.

from the plasma thread...

hehehe.. to be honest walang burn in ang plasma now a days, that was 4th or 5th generation your talking about, way way back pa yung issue na yan bro 2003 pa yan mga samsung, fujitsu, sony etc ang karamihan 10th gen na ngayon and people are stuck w/the idea of the past;D. Dont listen to all the b*****t of all the appliance center are talking about, well i dont blame them they've been taught to do so. ;) I'm also a hardcore gamer xbox, ps3, wii mern ako... lahat yan sa plasma ko ginagamit. To see is to believe sir, i let it for 30mns sa 65" ko walang ng yari. That is why this companies tried improving their system w/ a whitewash function ;D

I'd rather go for a burn in unit than to see multiple dead pixel in my screen. ;)
opinion lang ng isang plasma user. ;D
mode cut me kapag ot. ;D
