Unlocking a Pioneer DV 400?

anyone? box says region 3...true enough...a region 1 dvd did not play

 ;D just wanted to ask where you were able to purchase your DV 400V?

i went to sm appliance center at the block yesterday out of stock sila...

the only thing they have instore are the DV 300V and DV 500V (only difference is the karaoke function) also no black units available.

That's pretty unusual for Pioneer. The players that they sell in the Philippines are normally region-free out of the box so there should be no need to flash the firmware. At this point, there's no choice except to wait for someone to hack the firmware with a region-free fix. That may take time though because this is a new model. In the case of the 380/383/686, it took almost 6 months before gufiak released a stable patch for the Region 2 market.

Got mine from Automatic Center Festivall mall. Can play all region DVD's- US, Japan, Saudi, R3. Works perfectly well with my new Pana 42PV70H (1880P oh my!, the best)  (best deal from Theater works, Trinoma mall).

but when i called them they said that its supposed to be region free! so its in my car now all boxed up with the receipt and warranty card...they said that they will replace it right away. ill bring it later after work :p

no complaints on their service. guess its not their fault if pioneer forgot to unlock one of the units.

i went to trinoma mall last sunday and the DV 400 is already out of stock priced at 5,500 php. so i decided to get the DV 600 for 6,300 php. instead. for an 800 php. difference in price.
