Home Theater for P20,000
« on: Aug 07, 2007 at 03:58 PM »

        Guys need help in buying new home theater system.  Budget is around P20,000 for 19sqr meter room.  I already have a DVD player, need a decent AVR and speaker system mainly for watching DVDs.

        Can anyone give me a good brand and store to buy this. Thanks.

A brand new receiver alone will already cost 15k at the least.

If I had 20k I would shop around at the Buy & sell section of PDVD. Terrific bargains there.

Get one of those pre owned receivers from 7-10k & get a pre-owned 5.1 speaker system w/ whats left.

If you can, save up for more (maybe at least 40-60k). Instead of settling for your budget now & ending up w/ endless upgrading, you will waste sooo much more time & money in this path.

I know this so well, cuz I went through it myself :-[.

20K?

aside from what master matz had mentioned on buying a pre-owned gear, your other alternative was a Raon sourced gear or maybe a Dai-chi home theater system....

or an HTIB system   :):)

20K:

11K = for a new yamaha rxv-359
5.5K = a pair of wharfedale 9.1
5K = a whafedale 9 center
5K = a pair of wharfedale 9 DFS surrounds
TOTAL = 26.5K

To fit 20K, suggest, buying the surrounds some other time and go with a 3.0 setup.

The one I use in my bedroom is decent enough for a 40k budget (brand new price):

JBL SCS 200.5 (w/ a loud sub) + Denon or HK entry level AVR. The typical Wharfe-yamaha combo might not be able to afford you a sub yet at 40k. & for me, no sub is = to no HT.

But dont expect it to perform like 80+k setups though, but its a decent enough starter HT.

40k would fetch you a decent complete setup w/ subs at the B/S section.

I would not recommend those sub 20k Jamo's in the dept stores as they are severely lacking in the mids IMhO.

theres a decent yamaha amp at the fs section for 7k... 100w per ch i think.. you have 13k left for speakers... if you have a sub already, you can buy 2nd hand wharfs too...
