Yamaha RX-V1800: $1299.95 vs. Onkyo 705: $799.00

Since I have power amps, the 1800 would be enough, but the price is so  compared to the old 1000 series (@ P30+k).

Onkyo is sure so tempting...

well i think the 1800 is meant to go against the onkyo 875 i think...

cause the yamaha 861 is more meant to go against the onkyo 805.. but yes the onkyo 805 has a hell lot more features plus thx ultra compared to the yamaha 861 hehe

The older Yamaha 1000 series is the equivalent of the Onkyo 700 series (same specs & price level), until they upgraded the Yamaha 1700 to replace the rxv2600 in specs (but the 2k series still has more features).

So now feature & spec wise, its probably Yamaha 1800 vs Onkyo 805.
