Astrovision "re-sealed"???
« on: Aug 13, 2007 at 12:31 AM »
Few months ago, my son started collecting Harry Potter movies, sadly 3 movies (no stock of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) lang daw available sa astrovision festival mall, may binigay sakin yung sales clerk na unsealed same price din daw (maybe used? ewan ko!) galing sa loob ng cabinet pinaopen lang daw ng customer tapos hindi daw binili! i-"SEALED" nalang daw nya ulit!  ??? hindi ko binili ano loko?... anyways, by then, medyo duda nako na bka nga may raket yung mga tao dun!... Last friday my son bought the Tomb raider 1 and 2, watch kmi that night ng TR-1, last night yung TR-2, suddenly biglang nag pause yung movie! in-eject ko to check the disc, pag bukas ko ng light (i'm using pj kc kya madilim room) aysus mahabaging dios! daig pa pirated dvd sa dami ng gasgas at may finger print pa! i checked also the condition of the casing, halatang nilipat yung sticker ng "imported dvd" from the plastic seal to the casing! talagang used na nga! pero sealed yun nung binili namin!

Bro that's the reason why there are dvds na unsealed ;)malamang pinoydvd member nag inspect non tapos nun may gasgas hindi na binili ;). I experienced it din before when I do not check actual condition of dvd, may mga unit na with scratches and with finger print  >:( ang sama 3months down the line ko pa minsan napapanood kaya ang hirap ipalit, But since heavy buyer ako before and my wife always keeps the receipts  kaya ayun naipapalit din, hassle nga lang :( So from that experience nag simula na din ako mag check :) Lately I also noticed na nakalagay sa case DVD9 but when I checked it DVD5 lang >:( >:( >:( Quality starting to go really bad, maybe bec of the price down? ::) ???

Masama nyan ire-reseal ulit nila to make it look bnew! >:(

Dapat hindi na pwede i re-sell ang unsealed na may gasgas or may minor damages.  It will be returned to distributor and it will be destroyed.  If some stores are selling these, you can report them.  resealing is very easy to do.  Pwede DIY yun.  So anyone can do it.

I was browsing through their DVD racks and saw a title which I liked (sorry, forgot the title), which was on sale.  Anyway, it seems that all their DVDs on display are only empty cases.  So, I asked for a copy of the title.  What the sales lady did was she opened a DVD case and got the disc from it and placed it inside the case used for display. At saka lahat ng on display nila, tinatanggal nila sa case (siguro to prevent theft/shoplifting).  Binili ko na rin 'yung DVD kasi when I checked the disc, okay naman siya.  Pero, come to think of it, I should not have bought it since it was already unsealed.

once bought a dvd at NBS Glorietta, when i got home, ala pala yun dvd sa loob  :P
had to go back, and have it replaced. yun pala, they open all dvd's then take out the discs, then they display the cases. if you are going to buy, then they place the disc inside. so yun sealed mo - naging unsealed na. didnt buy any dvd from NBS after that. at that time kasi, hard to find yun National Treasure kaya ok lang sa akin kahit unsealed sya since ala naman gasgas yun disc.

I guess this is the case for most National Branches na walang Tower/Music One store.  They deliberately open cases of DVDs for display and take out the discs.  Kaya, ako rin, after the first DVD, di na ako bumili sa NBS. Babaw ba?  ;D

Katulad din ng pagbili ko ng mga ibang products (such as clothes, shoes, etc.), I don't usually buy the display item.  I always ask for a new stock.

for Astro naman, i once had a dvd returned to them kasi may scratches - nag loose disc sya inside and i only found out when i opened it at home. Pinalitan naman nila - yun nga lang, di ko lang alam kung if they re-sealed the one i returned.

tapos meron din talaga na nagpapa open ng dvd sa store na to check if loose disc. if loose, then they wont buy it. Pero dapat return na lang ng astro yun cases na ganito sa supplier di ba? rather than having it resealed then sold to unsuspecting buyers?

For someone who is passionate about something like dvds really want to open the sealed item by themselves. I even managed to use or keep at least the original plastic that wrapped the dvd. Hindi ka mababaw, ganu'n din ako and I think many others here in pinoydvd. Parang magazines na ako muna ang gustong makabasa before anything else can and without soiled hands to boot. You just value the things that matters to you. :)

I bought an Iron Giant DVD from an Astro plus sale, after several months I opened to watch it & it was so badly scratched inside. I mean veeery bad. It was obviously a resealed unit. I couldnt find the receipt so I didnt bother to have it exchanged.

But it sure changed my perspective of Astro plus.  :(

same experience here. i bought x3 sa m1 gbelt, last copy na. sa excitement ko, coz i've been looking for it for quite a while na, di ko na nacheck. the next day ng i-check ko, grabe as in grabe ang gasgas! both discs. napalitan naman, ibang title na nga lang. and they kept on insisting na di daw sila nagre-reseal when i asked them bakit sila nagbebenta ng ganon.

mga 2 mos after, i saw x3 again sa sale sa southmall, 2 copies na lang. got 1 and AGAIN di ko na naman na check. (tanga ko talaga!) Ayun STRIKE 2!  And guess what? dami ding gasgas ng 2nd copy at may crack pa yong case! hiyang hiya ang saleslady and shes also wondering kung paano nangyari yon. ni report sa boss nila and nagcheck sa nearby video city sa mall and fortunately may copy don. isa lang pala ang boss ng mga promo ng viva dito sa south kaya madali ang coordination. swerte lang ako't natyempuhan ko na nandon. to make the long story short nakakuha din ako ng maayos na copy pero grabe sa hassle.

Very true. If I will go to any Astro branch now, I am pretty sure na makakakita ako ng a handful of DVD's na DIY ang pag re-seal. Parang sayang ang Astro, such a big company yet no sense of right direction. The way I look at it parang mismanaged. :-\

This has also happened to me at astroplus podium. Bought Top Gun SE, when I got home and opened the dvd it was full of scratches and fingerprints. I got to replace the dvd, this time I opened the replacement inside the store, guess what? Same deal, full of scratches and this one even had a strand of hair in it! >:(  Finally got a mint copy after that one. So from now on when I buy from astro, I make it a point to open the dvd inside the store so that I know exactly what I'm getting..which is kinda sad really.  :-\

Di po ba meron tayong member na may-ari(?) ng isang Astro (or is it in another forum, not sure)? Maybe he/she can address our concerns...  :-\

I haven't had any bad experience yet, but from now on, I'll have the DVDs opened before I purchase. (Can I be more redundant?)  ;D

In fairness to other Astro stores, okay naman ang service nila.

Sa Astro SM Pampanga, I bought the first two Bourne DVDs and chose Black Hawk Down as the third DVD for the 3-for-600 promo. On the counter I asked the saleslady to open the DVDs including all of the other titles I bought, wala naman gasgas kahit isa, including the Behind Enemy LInes which I found out only in the counter that the bottom of the shrinkwrap was resealed with scotch tape.

Since DVD5 lang pala yung Black Hawk Down DVD, I asked the saleslady if I can replace it with another title at pumayag sila.

Kaya ako, after getting home, I always open and check the condition of the DVDs that I bought.  I also experienced buying DVDs with scratches pero it was because it was loose.  So, I just return it and have it replaced.   :D

Kapag 1 or 2 lang ang binibili ko, I immediately open it infront of the saleslady para makita din nila agad kung meron problem. 8)

here's another scenario - also with astroplus.

i used to buy dvd's almost twice a week in that branch until i came across a sealed but with scratch dvd that i bought from them. it seemed that the copy was already returned by another customer but re-sealed.

i immediately called the store and they said that it was the last copy and have to exchange it for something else but since i liked the movie so much i asked someone to get me a copy from another store.

the next day i returned the dvd and they said that i need to replace it with the same title ??? and meron daw sa kabilang branch pinakuha lang.

another incident was with dvds marked dvd 9 on the cover but containing dvd 5.

and the last experience that really turned me off and made sure that i never buy from that branch again was they have a lot of mispriced items! pag dating sa counter iba ang presyo or iba daw yung promo, different from what was indicated...they'll make you wait for a long time and then when you follow-up, they'll say o anu kukunin mo ba to? - WTF! parang ikaw pa ang naka abala sa kanila! to think that im a regular customer! i may take a long time choosing titles but i buy dvds (regularly), cds and magazines from them!

also noticed iba ang presyo sa podium, the block and sm north main (on some dvds kahit hindi sale ha)

dito nalang ako sa pinoy dvd bibli! (or sa odyssey)

I started this thread kaya in fairness to astrovision hindi naman lahat (siguro  ;)) ng branches nila merong scratched/re-sealed/used disc/s or "raket" yung mga employees nila. There are members na sa ibang branch wala silang bad experience/s (or hindi pa nakakatyempo?  :D), the best way siguro i jot-down nila yung mga branches na may mga reklamo and let them check/investigate and interogate!

I got the 2-disc Kung Fu Hustle from Astro MOA last night and when I opened it at home I found a ton of ghostly white marks on both discs.

It was like someone played the discs on a really bad disc drive leaving these circular tracks all over. I can't even decide if they are just scratches or dust marks. After reading this thread a week before I suddenly found myself doubting Astro's products. Should I even try returning these discs and replacing them?

Yes you should. You've paid for a brand new product and that is what you should get. I've returned scratched discs to astro before and they have always replaced it with new ones. Just make sure to have your receipt with you.

Hmm, from my experience, I called astro podium first to report a scratched dvd that I bought from them earlier in the day and asked if I could replace it. They said yes, but I should have it replaced within 3 days from date of purchase. I'm not sure if this is a strict policy though. Try to call astro MOA first to make sure. Hope this helps.
