« on: Aug 13, 2007 at 03:27 PM »
Hi, im new in this forum :)

quick question, if you burn a 720p movie file into a DVD and play it using an  upscaling DVD player, would it output true 720p resolution?

or kelangan ba HD DVD or Blue Ray for this?

No it won't. Your "hd video" will automatically be re-encoded into "dvd" before you could burn it into a dvd disk. So technically - That aint 720p.

;D.  Tha's exactly my dilema.  I have plenty of HRHDTV material mostly documentaries that I would want to view sa PJ ko.  There are a few HDD players and stand alone disc players that can play HRHDTV, H.264, etc.  Mediagate, DVico, Pixel Magic for HDD players and stand alones like this one http://us.taxan.com/products/products.php?cat=HNP&sc=AVEL&pId=AVLP2%2FDVDLAV&ts=2&tsc=.

Cable na lang problema ko since hook up would be vga to DVI.
ALA EH!!

Once encoded to DVD format, video will be "encoded" to native resolution of DVD which is 480p.

If you try to play a 720p DivX (or other similar formats) not encoded to DVD format, processor of your DVD player will not be able to handle it...

...XBox Media Center nga po di kaya mag-play ng 720p videos eh... Nags-skip ang video frames, or nauuna ang sound.  :o

i see...

also, how big of a difference would be an HDMI upscaling DVD player if connected to a 32" 720p lcd tv?

is the 6k justifiable in terms of PQ vs regular progressive scan component connection DVD players?
