Polk PSW series are budget subs that provide plenty of muscles to movie. PSW110 is best for room size not bigger than 25 sq. mtrs. PSW125 can accommodate the size 40sq. mtrs.

If you want a finer bass for music and movie, you can consider the Velodyne Impact 12. However, moving to Velodyne is more practical when matched with mid-budget speaker system that excels more musical.

The Polk is just right for the budget Wharfedale.

A more nearly perfect settings for TV can be done by calibration. You may want to get a software like AVia or Video Essential to do your own calibration. Otherwise, getting service calibration from third party utilizing ISF equipment will be quite costly.
