Anthony, we'll have a project sa condo ng belgian waffle boss ko. complete set ng A audio speakers mo, pati receiver, dvd player, egreat and PS3 ipinagkatiwala sakin ( payback time boss!   baba ng increase ko last year!). Pwede mo ba ako tuluingan mag set up? He'll be back from belgium in 2 weeks time, complete set, Tower Front, Center, rear and Sub.  

I will source out the AVR,DVD,Egreat and PS3, then hook up natin yung complete set ng speakers mo.

haha todo kasi sa kabaratan to eh. expense reports ko rejected, 2k pesos lang.

of course pag iigihan natin ng mabuti, para may susunod pa, madami pa namang iabng bossing dito, at irerefer ako nito for sure.

technically speaking he could make you almost  any sub enclosure you wanted as long as you have the design/specs.  i have a halimaw and i've also tried the downfiring design at his place.   of course i'll say it's the halimaw for me.  it consumes a considerable amount of space but the bass is smooth, tight but still with oomph.  works with audio for me also.  i'm no expert with this either, but i have to say that the halimaw is great value for your money.  which sub were you able to try out sir?  

Bedroom ito so my wife will kill me if I buy the halimaw.  Just tried out the one set-up in his HT set-up.  10" downfiring ata.  Will try it out na lang siguro.  Parang ok naman eh.

if its not a huge bedroom, the 10" ( i have this one) or the 12" ( para sure na hindi bitin) will do sir.

for my, my 10" needed to be positioned well to see the full potential, right now its serving its purpose well, imagine, 6k lang yung sub na yan.

Its slightly more expensive than 6k but hopefully its better than US Audio (or Wharfe?) that is more or less in its price range.   TSi 100 lang ang fronts... might go with the 10" muna... baka masapawan ng sub yung speakers.  (kaya ba yun?)  Want it to be hidden rin so the smaller the better for me.

I had a 15" DQ, yan ang pinalitan nya, i can say na yung 10" ko kaya tumapat sa 15" ko dati, pero iba padin talga ang baba ng 15" pero sa lakas, ok na yung 10". But given an extra cash, id still go for the 12". mas madali mag bawas ng volume kesa mag dagdag at lalo na kung sagad na at bitin ka pa din.

for audio intially it s*cked, pero it just needed some breaking in, medyo matigas sya dati, right now it has tightened and experimented sa location of the sub, now its performing well.

Sir mac- as you've mentioned before, a speaker thats good in audio, will do well din if used as HT speakers. i guess its safe to assume that the tritower is the better choice. but i may be wrong.

I still stand by that actually Which is why I'm considering the 2.5 clones for my HT as well.
Anthony & I have different views in HT speakers & he does prefer the Tritower over the 2.5 in HT - but he is slowly coming around in agreeing with me

My current HT speakers is the B&W 602.5s3 - a small FS that houses a 5.5" midwoofer & a 1" tweeter. They're actually the same drivers used in the 601s3 BS that I use for my rears. Thus, the 602.5s3 is actually a 601s3 with a longer cabinet

I guess Im a bit passionate with the simplicity of just a tweeter & midwoofer for both music & HT. Front L/R speakers are just for movie effects & music basically, thus the 2.5 clones having 6.5" midwoofer would deifintely be a good upgrade to my B&W 602.5s3
In HT, I'd rather give my concentration to both the center speaker & subwoofer - as both these speakers will get the most use in conveying the impact of "theater" experience. I'm just waiting on Anthony to develop a new center speaker to match the 2.5/D2 clones having 6.5" drivers so I could transfer my new 2.5 clones for HT use.

In retrospect, the Tritower will give you more slam & output - it would be a great compromise to your boss who prefers movie watching & heavy rock music.......however, you gotta match it with the appropriate center speaker. If not, your front R/L speakers will somewhat pull his attention to the sides than in the center. Along this line, you might also consider the size of sub that would go well with the rest of the Ht speakers.
Most importantly, be mindful on where this set-up would be used - is it a house or a small condo, a big area or a small one. Its all about mix/match & compromises.

Another project am considering with Anthony is to custom-build for me a center speaker to match with existing fronts.  Kaya naman daw i-match but has anybody had any kind of experience doing this experiment?  Old speakers na kasi yung fronts kaya I won't be able to find matching centers for them.

i think its worth exploring, especially if the old speakers are really good. just make sure sir anthony gets to see it. it would be better if he could get the exact drivers from his supplier, so that its really a match, if not, i think sir anthony will have a few tricks up his sleeves to make it work.

I'm hoping.  Old unused floorstanders kasi... The ones that were still made in the actual countries of origin.  I'll try them out first naman before deciding if I'll actually use them.  Sana nga magawan ni Anthony ng paraan.  Pinapadala nga ni Anthony yung speakers just if ever matutuloy.

as advised before ni master Jojo for Old speakers na matagal na hindi nagamit, make sure na dahan dahan ang pag gamit sya kanya, unlike new ones na ang break in period kahit itodo mo kaya ng cone pero pag old speakers na, madali daw masisira.

Thanks for the advice.  Will take it slow with the speakers.  In any case, kung bumigay yung cone, palitan ko na yung drivers to match the center na gagawin ni Anthony.  Hehe.
