I have been a lurker of this forum for over a year now. Most of my photographer friends keep telling me that this place is a major source of information and hardware and they were right.
I was able to complete my HT system last March with most of my set up from SnS and well "contented" for now with the Yamaha-Wharfedale system.
Recently I wanted to re-live my audio love. I used to be a SQ guy back in my car days in HondaClub. It died down when I went to photography.
So last Dec. 26 I texted and called Anthony interested to buy some BS partnered with a T-amp or Dayton APA 150. Together with a friend and also a pinoydvd member cirspy_party, we went to Anthony's lair. Auditioned two BS the Genesis and Exodus. I decided to get the Exodus first.
My take on the Exodus partnered with a t-amp and also my yamaha rvx650 receiver. Im not really technical on the audio stuff so ill just let what I heard be my review. The Exodus I got, is the version with the Velodyne tweeters. The Exodus is a vocal and acoustic wonder, with voices clear and the guitars crisp, you can hear each strings and breath of the singer. So guys who love to play Norah Jones, Susan Wong and the likes would love this speaker.
The only con I had was the lack of bass. Since Im a 2 speaker guy and dont really use a sub, I decided to return the unit and get the Genesis instead.
The Genesis...what I would like to call, the mighty mouse or the small wonder. Well rounded, vocals just right not as crisp as the Exodus but the bass was there, a little oomph to go with the voices. I initially powered the Genesis with the T-amp I got, it was decent, for a small room its perfect. I also tried it side by side with my Wharfedale Vardus 400 floor standers powered by the Yamaha. Even at its size it was clear that the Genesis was performing better in terms of mids and highs, the vardus won on the lows/bass.
When my Dayton APA-150 arrived last night I tested it with the Genesis. All I can say is this speaker performed better than what Ive heard with other BS speakers. Clean, crisp, well defined mids, highs and just the right bass. Powered by a good amp this BS is one mighty mouse.
To Anthony, thanks. And keep producing these great products!
