Thanks sir ninjababez.
May I ask the difference between warm and bright speakers.
It's still a riddle to me.
Is it based on subjective hearing or tech specs?

Kausap ko si sir anthony kanina sa phone.
I am planning to visit his lair on or after Jan. 5.
I am hoping besides genesis ano pang a-audio speaker ang bagay sa 508.
Di talaga ako makatulog sa kakaisip ng HT setup.

Yes, very subjective some people like their speakers warm while others like it bright.

Bright: Very detailed, forward sounding.
Warm: Laid back, flowy sound

My personal preference is warm

Also make sure that you properly pair speakers and amps.
If you have a bright sounding amp get warm sounding speakers and vice-versa.
Para balance yung sound.

Do not pair bright-bright or warm-warm

I am planning to purchase an onkyo 508 or a pio 820k (which I cannot classify as warm or bright)
Same as through with other speakers such as wharfedale diamond 10 series, polk audio rti or rtm series
and of course sir anthony's speaker creations.
Can you classify them for us noobies?

this is my opinion, ok even if you google it. different people will have different preferences.

receivers

onkyo - i consider it to be neutral to a tad bright
yamaha - i consider it to be a tad bright
denon - generally considered warm
harman - generally considered warm
pioneer - generally considered bright

speakers

wharfedale - warm
klipsch - bright
polk - tad bright
a audio - i own a clone, for me its a bit neutral, the other models i dont know since i have not audition it yet.

goodluck. basta sa akin. yung warm, masarap pakinggan but medyo kulang sa details, while yung bright, pag matagal kang nakikinig, nakakapagod or fatiguing yung sound. that's why for me, although in general i like warm sound, but more towards going neutral. para hindi rin devoid of details specially kung music or concerts and pinapakinggan ko.

Last October I bought Anthony's last pair of Dipole speakers.

I had a bracket made which I proudly designed.

As for SQ, I'm not yet sure where my stand is.
This is the first time I set up dipole surround speakers and it is very different from monopoles.

I have a love hate thing towards it.

The Dipoles shine in ambient sounds like the clapping of audience in a concert and it adds atmosphere to my room.

But it lacks the directionality I look for. In movies like Master & Commander or Transformers the specific surround effects I'm used to were hard to pin-point though it gives the effect of many speakers.
Some will like it, some won't.

Master, Baka sakali you can rewire this dipoles and make them bipoles? If ever I don't like the effect.
As of now I'm still undecided hehe

^ i have the bipole version. with what i've read before, dipoles need to be situated in a very specific location on the sides as to avoid nulling itself out in reference to the listener's position. that said, sweet spot for dipoles is very limited compared to bipoles. as far as directionality goes, Bipoles work as monopoles with far greater dispersion as provided by the twin driver array on both sides.

Or you may keep the dipole speakers you already have and add bipoles at the back for surround galore.

Tama si brader hexagram, dipoles should be positioned on side walls, and bipoles as back surround.

mas maganda palagyan mo ng switch so you can select dipole or bipole on-the-fly.

but i believe surround audio is mastered using direct firing speakers so i'm not a fan of those two-pole speakers. alam ko nauso yan panahon pa ng unang dolby pro-logic. but of course each has his own preference.

i came from monopoles and i preferred bipoles because you get the benefit of dispersion and localization at the same time. but yeah, to each his own nga naman.

'ika nga e, walang basagan ng trip pero actually, gusto ko din sana i-try kasi mas malawak ang dispersal ng sound... pero since maiksi lang ang wall namin, no need na. lalo pa ngayon na abot-kamay ko na ang pang 6th&7th channel.

Yeah, I followed the dipole position instructions from the net.

Placed them on the sides of the listening area. In-phase side facing the screen and the out-of-phase side facing the back of the room.

The Dipole gives off an atmosphere not present in monopoles.

Specs po di ko na makita pero as per sir macdon, that is the best sounding bookshelf lang naman ni Anthony

-pair of 5 footer + piano finish matching center from doc mel aka nerveblocker
-pair of genesis & clone D2 from amigong Alvin

lahat preowned but satisfied.

simpleng pagsusuri (using Anthony's dc amp on both pairs) :

1. Genesis - nagmistulang lata ang tunog ng luma kong speaker. yun nga lang hirap syang i-drive ng amp. mas lalabas siguro ang totoong karakter nito kung busog ang amp. pero totoo nga ang sabi ng mga nakarinig na, may lalim ang speaker na ito. this one goes to the 6th & 7th channels na.

2. Clone D2 or should I say, THE Clone D2! - WOW! dapat maiuwi na ito to pair with my MP5. walang dudang pang music ito. di gaano nahirapang i-drive ang amp. mas open with clear vocals and just enough lows. in short, balance. if not for the sentimental value baka pakakawalan ko na si b&w 302. but side by side ko muna.
