Tsonga boots out Federer in 5 sets!

Tsi-nongga ng serve ni Tsonga si Federer sa last 3 sets.  Tinalo in 3 breaks in 3 sets.

Pero grabe nga yung power ni Tsonga during the last 3 sets.  Yung tunog ng serves and power strokes ay nakaka-tsongga.  Federer looked practically hopeless in many instances.

Up to yesterday I was already planning my Sunday night for a finale between Nadal and Federer.  So now, I feel Tsongged!

Super Tsongged si Federer dahil he actually won more points, and committed very few unforced errors, but still lost the match in the end.

The ladies in Tsonga's family box are quite pretty.  Ano kayang mix-lahi yon?

Matigas ang ulo ni Fed. He didn't adjust his game in the last three sets to counter the change in Jo Willy's game. Not to take anything away from Tsonga. It was his best match since the Thrilla in Manila haha.

Naniniwala pa rin kasi si Federer na at some point in the game bibigay yung kalaban niya just as long as he plays his usual game. Kaso hindi na totoo yan kasi alam na ng mga players na kaya na nilang talunin si Federer. Yung aura of invincibility dati ni Federer ay na kay Nadal na!

DJOKOVIC TO BECOME NEW WORLD NO. 1 MONDAY

http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2011/06/26/Wimbledon-Friday-Djokovic-To-Become-New-Number-One-Monday.aspx

Novak Djokovic is guaranteed to become the new World No. 1 in the 2011 South African Airways ATP Rankings on Monday by reaching the Wimbledon final. The Serb Friday defeated Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-7(9), 6-3 in the semi-finals of the 125th Wimbledon Championships. Djokovic will overtake Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who held the top spot for 56 weeks in his second stint as No. 1.

Djokovic’s ascendance to World No. 1 can be attributed to an incredible 2011 season, which includes a 47-1 record through Friday’s Wimbledon semi-final victory. Djokovic has claimed seven titles, including his second Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, and four ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns at Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Rome. The Serb defeated Nadal in all four of those Masters 1000 finals.

Djokovic becomes the 25th player to reach No. 1 and is the first player other than Nadal or Roger Federer to grasp the top spot since Andy Roddick held the ranking for 13 weeks from 3 November 2003 to 2 February 2004. Djokovic is the first player from his country to achieve the milestone; Serbia is the 13th nation represented atop the South Africans Airways ATP Rankings.

I find the new Wimbledon Women's Champ hot at 6 ft tall and full bodied (judging from other full bodied female professional tennis players that I've seen in person, I'm sure she looks quite nice and very tall in person..hehe)

Congratulations to Petra Kvitova.  She's simply better than Maria on this particular match.

For the men's final, i'm hoping the underdog Novak wins.
It won't be fitting to be ranked No.1 in the world if he loses this match.

Actually its the ballboys themselves who nicknamed her "stinky". Kasi she literally stinks during the game. Walang gusto lumapit sa kanya kasi she makes them nauseous. Now you know why Roddick stayed away. ;)

They've all got to be stinky when they play and practice that much under the sun, but it's really difficult to judge sa TV.

But soccer players...nakupo talagang nakakahilo lalo na't nakasabay mo sa plane.

I think Roddick realized he liked big and bouncy natural boobs afterall.   ;D

Just found out that the finals is being broadcast in 3D.  Must be quite awesome to see that heavy top spin Nadal forehand ball approach you.

So far Djokovic is doing a Nadal on Rafa... hehe...beating Rafa on long rallies.

It seems Novak has Rafa's number, while Rafa has Roger under his spell. Roger, on the other hand, still has Novak under control.

Matibay sa groundstrokes si Djoko, out dueling Rafa at his own game. And when he concentrates, he barely makes any errors. Good win.

The opponents of Djokovic have been saying that he uses movement even more than Nadal does. I didn't believe it -- until last night. Djokovic covers the court even more fluidly than Rafa does.

Plus, is there any better backhand in tennis than Novak's? Not right now. Did any player in history have a better backhand? I'm still thinking.

Rafa's best shot, his forehand, goes right into Novak's best shot, his backhand. Kontra-pelo.

IMO, aside from his skills, the biggest improvements in Novak's game are his stamina and maturity.
In the past, he will be seen breathing heavily ang sweating profusely after long rallies. Oftentimes, after an unforced error, he will curse at himself, beat his racquet to the ground or even his head. But now, you can even see him smile at his mistakes and clap at an opponent's passing shot. These are traits that Rafa & Roger learned early in their careers. His time has come.

i think i read somewhere that djokovic's improved fitness was due to a change in diet. apparently he was intolerant to some of the foods he had been consuming.

During the match, they showed the total distance covered by each player with Djokovic "running" farther than Nadal.  How the bloody hell did they measure that? - sensors were attached to both players?

The 4th set could have gone the other way if not for Nadal's crucial unforced errors, but it's amazing how much improvement Djokovic attained with his slimmer look.

Maybe they are using a technology similar to  the European soccer leagues.
http://blogs.wsj.com/numbersguy/tracking-how-far-soccer-players-run-112/
"...In response to my inquiry, the UEFA sent me a three-page document outlining the new system, which it says can also track other physical elements of the game such as shot speed and the distance of free kicks to the goal. The field, or pitch, is divided among 16 cameras ringing the stadium, with each one filming its own area. The cameras send video feeds to three laptops that extract the trajectories of the ball and players. The UEFA said it has tested the system against proprietary tracking systems used by individual clubs, and also by sending people on predetermined, fixed-length trajectories, and found it to be generally accurate within 3%."

I think Roger Federer still has the best backhand in tennis right now.
