dahil sa panonood/pagsubaybay ko ng australian open, nagkainteres ang 10 year old daughter ko to learn and likes to play tennis... is there a school/organization that offers tennis lessons for beginners during summer? tennis summer camp kaya?

if school-based, don bosco makati offers clinics in some sports. just can't remember if tennis is one of them. if i remember correctly, milo also offers tennis clinics.
peace man!

Hehe.

O sige, para sa mga audiophile. Eto daw yung soundwave clips nina Azarenka at Sharapova.

"Soundwave clips of Victoria Azarenka, left, and Maria Sharapova, right, showing the decibel levels of their respective shrieks during matches. Sharapova's reaches 105 decibels and Azarenka's 95, but the Belarusian's has a longer duration with the average grunt lasting 1.5 seconds." Source: Guardian

For the critics who complain about women't grunting, I have this advice: just try using your imagination, you might find it more entertaining.  ;D

It was a great match  but nadal's groundstrokes were too weak kaya he was toyed (pinaglaruan ;D) by djokovich.

You will see nadal running left and right all the time.

Nadal almost won it.  If not for the hearbreaking turn of events in the middle of the 5th, it could have been 5-2 Nadal instead of 4-3 Nadal.   Awesome game.  Really loved those over 20-ball rallies.

But Djokovich is really strong - or contra pelo talaga si Nadal - the same way na contra pelo naman si Federer.  The best scenario for Federer is to face Murray in the semis and then Djokovich in the finals. Hehehe.

I truly pity Andy Murray for being in the same generation as Djokovich, Nadal and Federer, but the current group has got to be one of the best top 4 of all time, if not the best.

Now that they're showing a lot of Andy's GF on TV, I don't pity him one bit, haha.

Seriously, though, ang tigas pareho ng ulo ni Roger at Raga. Roger had the right game plan, won Set 1, then abandoned it. Rafa, same thing. Nole's a monster if you just play a defensive game; you have to take it to him much more aggressively. Rafa can't do the same game plan he uses for Roger, against Nole.

It's difficult to change something that has worked before almost every time against almost every one. Federer finds it difficult to change his playing style just for Nadal. Nadal also finds it difficult to change his playing style just for Djokovic. Furthermore, Nadal has Federer mentally/psychologically beaten. Vijay pointed this out right after Nadal beat Federer in the semis. And it seems Djokovic is starting to build the same edge against Nadal.

Sampras, McEnroe, Becker and Navratilova's serve and volley game for Federer and Nadal.

But they know that of course.  It must be quite difficult to master that gamestyle after all.

4th round na ng French Open.. as expected, the top 4 on the Men's side are cruising.. Nadal and Djokovic have yet to drop a set.. on the Women's side naman, upsets galore.. Serena was booted out in the 1st round and Venus followed in the 2nd.. si Wozniacki naman, kanina lang.. Sharapova is playing really well so far.. ang bilis ng mga panalo niya..

Haven't followed tennis closely for sometime ...... not since Sampras last few seasons.

I do appreciate the current era of excellence led by Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, etc ..... those three are miles ahead of the competition.

But I sure do miss the era before that - when the amount of talent was just staggering ...... Sampras, Agassi, Courier, Kafelnikov, Chang, Rafter, Kuerten (a personal fave), Hewitt, etc.

The players from that generation were more exciting than the current crop of players. Nowadays, players are contented playing on the baseline. Most wait for their opponents to make mistakes while the better ones try to force the issue by making use of angles together with power but still playing on the baseline. Rarely do the current crop of players serve and volley with the exception of Federer and some of the taller players like Isner. But Federer is getting old and would rather outplay his opponent from the baseline.

Yeah sampras was a fave of mine back then. The rivalry with agassi was like federer-nadal now. Have to agree was better way back then. But im not complaining about todays players, still very talented.

Kuerten (a personal fave)

really?! hate that guy because i hate all noisy grunting tennis players including sharapova and azarenka.

Yup, Guga Kuerten was a fave due to his solid play in clay ..... and that crazy Brazilian 'fro.

The male grunts are actually tolerable for me ..... they seem to be still within the realm of the natural.

The female grunts however, are a different thing altogether. I remember watching Monica Seles (another personal fave) and just had to lower the volume of the TV set ..... I watched Azarenka one time, that grunt is absolutely annoying.

I read somewhere that some players grunt to annoy and distract the opponent. There was this male player who once got so annoyed with his opponents grunting that he complained to the umpire and then started grunting loudly just to prove a point. If I remember correctly, it was Thomas Muster, who was one of my favorite clay court specialists.

Don't think there was anyone more annoying than Monica Seles ;D.  Wasn't she stabbed for that  or something?

Yup ... like I said, Seles was annoying (had to lower the TV volume when watching her) ..... but can't deny that those grunts are a small price to pay for watching greatness.

She was actually stabbed by a hardcore & deranged fan of her rival Stefi Graf ..... I dont think it had anything to do with her grunts - she was just that good a rival to Graf.
