Pioneer DVD or CD player?
« on: Sep 25, 2007 at 10:03 PM »
Hi all.  I'm recently scouting for a dedicated CD player which I will use mainly for audio.  I know that CD players sound better than DVD players if u use it for plain audio.  Given that a dedicated CD players are more expensive than play it all DVD players, it seems wise to just by a DVD player that can match the sound quality of a dedicated CD player... do such exist?

Pioneer DVD players like the dv-600 has a good DAC, kung hindi naman masyadong matalas ang pandinig mo like some of the audiophiles here, pwede na yun... but i suggest and most of the members here would agree that it's still best if you're going to get a separate set-up for audio.

Note that If you're going to use your existing HT setup for your audio listening, medyo useless din kung bibili ka ng CD player coz hindi mo rin magagamit ang DAC ng CD player coz your receiver will process the sounds pa rin, so DAC pa rin ng receiver ang magiging output, not unless your receiver has a CD Direct option, meaning the DAC of your cd player ang gagamitin for sound output :)

goodluck bro :)

While I'm setting up an audio set-up in our bedroom, I cant discount the fact that my wife & i enjoy watching her dvd series, so since we have a limited real estate to set-up the gears - I would be using a Pio DV600 for both audio/video duties.

actually, the dac of a cd player won't be useless if used in an ht setup. the receiver would process the sound only if the source is connected via coax. but if analog connection is used, the dac of the cd player will process the sound.
peace man!

I believe that unless you have an extreemely high-end system and listening room, you will not notice the difference between the cd player and the dvd player. Sayang lang ang pera mo. Just use the digital outputs of the dvd player.
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.
